Men In Charge

Its so close to the end of the year… I am so excited. Thinking we were going to start to slow down the work load but nope. Here I am, tomorrow is the last day of school and I am still posting blogs about my school work.

This project was called “Men In Charge”, it was about the english history people that no one really cares about unless you like that kinda stuff. Well anyway there were 3 components to this project. First we were told to write a 250 word repost on a person of our choice. Next we had to create an Explain Everything about this person, and finally we had to create a brochure for a farm for sale back in the 1600’s.

So here is my work, hope you enjoy.

I chose to do my report on François de Laval,

On the 30th of April 1623 a legend was born. Thirty-six years later, François de Laval landed in New France (Quebec City) June 16, 1659, the French settlers greeted him with great joy.
Laval was the first bishop to serve on the superior council in New France, now known as Quebec. This was a big deal for the people in the colony, being that he was the first religious leader. François was always trying to get more and more people to be apart of the church. Over the years François made sure of one thing, to maintain his power. To keep up his power he stared buying land and farms, so the church could expand. Next he started his own program to start to build more churches, schools and hospitals, for the people in his colony, causing him to get into large arguments about him bending the rules. Laval also started a seminary, which is a school were the present priests teach the young men of the colony to become future priests. This particular seminary has survived over the years to become now known today as the University of Laval.

Which leads me to his legacy, and why he was remembered. I think that one of the main reasons his name is remembered today is because he was the one to get the churches name to be remembered. By achieving this he had to do quite a lot actually. Few of which being, buying and selling land to expand his church, building schools, more churches and hospitals, but most important being a good leader.

Next I did my Explain Everything…
