The Lives Affected By Trump

“I am here today to announce that the program known as DACA that was effected under the Obama administration is being rescinded” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Tuesday at the Justice Department. A program that had protected nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children from deportation. Obama brought this program to the US five years ago and so many of these individuals who have received protection have started families, pressed careers and studied in schools and universities.

Trump told reporters that he feels compassion for those affected but “long term it’s going to be the right solution”. But is deporting 800,000 kids really the right solution, the congress could find a easier way for DACA recipients to get citizenship. Most Dreamers are from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras and the largest numbers live in California, Texas, Florida and New York. They range in age from 15 to 36.
For this unit we have been studying satire and the difference between satire and parody. Satire is the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

For my satire project I decided to Donald Trump phoning his favourite Mexican restaurant before canceling DACA or taking it away and then trying to call again but it had to shut down because the people who owned it were Mexican and had to get deported. This just shows how Trump is so oblivious and ignorant to what he is really doing.
