Hi!

Here is another chapter of the amazing, UNTITLED!!! Yeah I’m taking suggestions in the comments.

Enjoy!

We are trained.

Honed.

Perfected.

Whittled away until there is nothing left but a killing machine.

And they say they are helping the world.

I stare out the window of the capsule. The earth’s night lights glitter, outlining the continents. My shoes fold into the chip in my ankle, leaving my bare feet to feel the cold touch of the floor. About twenty-four teens are testing some new nanotech on the Icarus 4, a spaceship meant to monitor illegal activity on earth. The kids operate in teams of two. One of the two is trained in martial arts, a variety of weapons and they run training sims where they have to run through an environment and complete an objective. The other partner learns about the technology and teaches its uses to the other partner. They haven’t told us why yet. But I don’t like it. My thoughts are interrupted by Leo coming to look at the glittering planet beside me.

“Look Ali.” I sigh, knowing what’s coming. “I know something is wrong. You need to talk to me.” I fiddle with my pocket. “I know this means a lot to you.”

“I… I can’t talk about this right now.” I turn to walk away but Leo grabs my arm.

“Ali!” His voice cuts through my worries, startling me to the core. “If you don’t get your game together…” the threat is implied. I know who he’s talking about. I shrug him away.

“I’ll deal with it.” Even though I’m not looking at him, I know what look is on his face. He knows I’m scared. He knows I’m terrified. He knows I would hide if I could. Hide under a rock and never come out. Hide away until this world is cured of its disease.

“Ali…” Leo tries calling after me, but we both know it’s futile. Just like any notion of helping this world.
