ICDFA…For Short

William Shakespeare‘s plays can be a bit confusing, so for us to better understand the play we are studying – Julius Caesar – we researched and created a body map featuring symbols depicting things related to a person in the play. Our group (Raina, OwenLuca J, Maggie, me) ended up with Octavius Caesar.

We split our group up so that everyone had a certain category of research. I researched the question regarding “Where did they live and work?” After finding all my information I helped out with some broader categories that would take more research such as “Who were they?” and “What is their historical importance?”.

Our group worked quite well together. We cut it a little close at the end with putting it up on the wall but other than that our time management was pretty good. Luca drew a rough draft of what we wanted the poster to look like and that made it a lot easier to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone finished what they were supposed to and ultimately I think it went well because everyone completed their own symbols and didn’t have to worry about other people’s input.

If we did this project again I would definitely spend more time thinking about how we could put the symbols in a specific area of the body to make it more meaningful as opposed to just putting bread and fish in his stomach. To be fair though, some places were kind of hard to make meaningful such as the foot or the leg, and that’s where we struggled the most. In the end this mini-project was quite fun and I’m sure it will help me and others in the long run.
