We have recently observed a new neighbour moving in to our school. A pair of Northern Flickers moved into our courtyard on Wednesday evening, and they are busy setting up their new home. They have been quite industrious during the school days and evenings.

While I have not yet been able to get a picture of them (I think they’re shy), I was able to see the results of their home renovation skills. On Wednesday evening, they opened the door to their new home and started to remove things that were in the way (insulation). The picture above shows the results of their renovation work. I hope they clean up, but I expect it will be up to one of us to take care of the mess.

I look forward to hearing the sounds of baby Flickers in the coming months.
