Teaching Today

Sometimes a principal’s day plan gets changed at the last minute. Today I find myself in one our grade 3 classes teaching for the morning. Actually, the students are all writing their journals about their holidays, so I am not really doing much teaching. While this is going on, I decided to write a bit on my blog.

Today at Capilano we bid one of our grade 4 classes “Bon Voyage” as they departed for the Cheakamus Centre in Paradise Valley, BC (http://www.cheakamuscentre.ca/). Thanks to their teacher and a number of volunteers, they will have a wonderful time exploring the traditional culture of the Coast Salish people. They were all bundled up and ready to go early this morning. Tomorrow will see our other grade 4 class (along with a teacher and parent volunteers) head up to the Cheakamus Centre. Have fun.

The grade 3’s just reminded that we needed to do the morning draw for the hokkie stools. These self-regulation tools are very popular in our school, and the children who won the draw were quite happy. Thanks to our PAC for supporting our various self-regulation initiatives. The students really appreciate it.

Take care
