Destination Imagination 2022!!! In this post I will be writing about DI 2022 and how my team overcame the challenge. Destination Imagination is a competition in which different teams of students compete from different schools to overcome a challenge. To learn all about DI here’s the link to their website.

PLP

At school I am in a program called PLP. Every year in PLP students from grades 8-10 participate and compete in DI. Because of COVID we haven’t been able to do it for awhile. The last time I had competed in DI was in grade 8, I’m in grade 10 now so it was my last year doing DI this year. DI has five different challenges you team can choose to compete in. There is Improv Challenge, Technical Challenge, Scientific Challenge, Fine Arts Challenge, and an Engineering Challenge. Each year our class is split up into teams of 2-7 people and given a challenge. We then have to find a solution to the challenge.

Scientific Challenge

This year I was in a group with Ryder, Jordan, Randy, Dries, Nate, and Eliot! We were the scientific team. Our challenge was the Daring Escape. We had to create a solution in which two devices overcame three obstacles. We decided our story would be a game show and we were team Lobster Game. In the show there are two teams competing to win the ultimate lobster prize. Each team is given a device to help them overcome obstacles in a race to the finish. Our devices were a ballista and a trebuchet. Our three obstacles were uneven terrain, a barrier, and a tunnel. Which team would win the ultimate lobster prize? Team red or team blue? Our team spent a long time trying to create the story, props, devices, obstacles and ultimate solution to the the challenge. We would constantly be revising things trying to get our work to be the best possible.

Instant Challenge

The instant challenge is a challenge you must try an and complete as a team at the competition. You have no idea what the challenge is going into it and you are not allowed to talk about it when you finish. I would tell you more but that might be breaking the rules.

Lobster Game

After all the hard work we finally got to compete. Here is Lobster Game!
