Recently we finished up a project in our class called 7 habits. This project was not only fun but also gave us 7 very useful habits to help us throughout our entire lives. What are the 7 habits? The 7 Habits
The 7 habits is a book by Stephen R Covey about 7 habits to become a highly effective person. It focuses on 7 main things that we can practice on our lives to become the best version of ourselves. We read the book and did activities with each habit to help us practice in class. These habits have been really helpful and I’ve benefited a lot from learning them. For the end project we had to make three different things to show the 7 habits. Ive broken all 7 habits up into three groups. I created one project per group and thought I would write about each one in this format and show my projects.
Habits 2, 3, and 4
Habit 2 start with the end in mind. Habit 3 put first things first. Habit 4 think win-win. Habit 2 is all about giving yourself choices, thinking about the end/outcome and what you want to see in the beginning. Habit 3 is about prioritizing important things and making sure you get what needs to be done first first. Habit 4 is about thinking about situations in which not only you win but others win too. To show these three habits I decided to draw a digital sketch. My sketch is of a girl thinking about these three habits and how she can constantly be improving in them as she practices each one more and more everyday.
Habits 5 and 6
Habit 5 seek first to understand then to be understood is about listening first and talking second. See every side to a story before telling your own. Habit 6 synergize is about working and collaborating with others to create the best solution to a problem. For habits 5 and 6 I chose to make a garage band song. I thought it would be cool to make a song about how I think the habits sound.
Habits 1 and 7
Habit 1 be proactive is about taking responsibility of your life and not blaming other people or things. Habit 7 sharpen the saw is about preserving and enhancing yourself. I think all the habits are very important but to me I think these two are the most important. For these two habit I decided to practice habit 7 while creating my project. I decided to make a watercolour painting. For me I love to paint whenever I have the time. I am very busy so I don’t get to do it often. Painting relaxes me and I find it helps me after a stressful day, week, or month. I chose to do a painting of a tree. Trees are very wise and I think that that reflects on habits 1 and 7 very well.
How can I be my most effective self? These 7 habits can help me be my most effective self. By being proactive, positive, and listening to myself, I can help myself constantly improve and grow into the person I want to be, the best version of me. Practicing these 7 habits everyday can help get there.
Overall I’ve learnt alot this project. This unit was a unit that I will able to continue to learn about after I graduate high school. I will continue to practice these habits to help me become the best version of myself.
