WW2 – It’s impact on the world

Hello readers, we have just wrapped up another project, this one surrounding WW2 and the events around it. Our goal was to be able to understand the causes and consequences of WW2 as well as make a podcast on a topic relating to a book we read in class. But this is a lot of information to take in all at once, so I will go through step by step our journey through the past few weeks.

We started by being introduced to 4 different books that we would read to accompany our research and learning throughout the project. These 4 books  were All the Light we Cannot See, Salt to the Sea,  Maus, and The Cage. In the book that I chose to read, Maus,  it was a true story that looked at the holocaust and the life of a Jew living through it. We then got in groups and had some interesting discussions on the book. My group consisted of myself, Dries, and Randy and we took turns being connector, discussion director, and summarizer. This way, we could discuss thoughtfully on the events in the book and how they relate to today’s world and the war we were exploring.

After some videos and lessons about WW2, we were able to finally start the podcast part of the project. I chose to do mine on the Nuclear Bombs in WW2. After writing a script and recording our own episode. We got to the group decisions which I found to be quite fun. In this section we had a contest for what our cover art and intro music to the podcast would be, as well as figure out what the episode order for our  podcast would be. I will attach the Class podcast link as well as my own when it is released.

I think that the Stories that we hear and read can really help us understand the before, and after of an event. By understanding what it was like before the event, we can identify what were the causes of it and we can not only hear but see first hand the consequences of the event, good or bad. The podcast that we are making right now will tell more than 20 different stories throughout WW2 and should be able to let you experience how stories can can help you understand the Causes and Consequences of World War 2.
