The seven habits are back! For our PGP this year, we did some revisiting and went back to the seven habits. More importantly, we focused on “how to be our most effective self”.

I will break this post into two parts. One will be Personal and two will be Academics

PERSONAL:

This year, PGP touched on two habits that were very helpful for me — thinking win-win and synergy.

For some backstory, I have always had a bit of a hard time getting in and staying in groups. Whether it’s school related or not, I’ve always struggled. That was, until this year. This year, with a little help from PGP, I’ve taken a look at my behaviour and mood in groups. What I noticed was that I used to be a negative person and only be able to focus on the bad side of someone.

However, with some practice of synergy, I am now able to look at the good things someone brings and am able to appreciate them in different ways. This has made my ability to be in groups a lot smoother. I can now see the funny side of someone instead of the annoying side, what they can do compared to what they can’t, and so on. So, PGP has made my school life and my friendships a lot stronger. I am already noticing differences in my outside of school life, and I am excited to see what next year brings.

ACADEMICS:

The work in PGP this year was all about getting yourself to become super effective at doing work. We learned how to prioritize, time manage, take breaks, etc. These tips gave me a boost when it came to my work ethic. Plus, with my ability to concentrate on work longer, I was able to get better work in on time. These factors have boosted three of my final grades to A’s. However, it is the end of the school year. This means that I need to have a way of capturing my ability to create good work, and save it for next year in Grade 10.

Overall, I am glad that we revisited PGP this year. At the beginning of this class, I groaned about coming back. However, this changed over the course of the project, and I am now looking at PGP in a new light.
