How Stressful

Bonjour mon amie, how has your week been? Would you say stressful, if so then honestly same. Reality hits hard when you let your guard down and after this week I feel like I’ve just taken on a whole freaking army with nothing but my fists. I’m guessing many of you reading this remember online school, and how easy it was to slack off on the classes. Just attend the meetings and hand in the work eventually and you were golden. Well, that laid back attitude does not work when your teachers lose about a quarter of the usual class hours and have around 10 weeks to cover everything that you would usually cover over the whole school year. I realized that after having to research a person, find an interviewee who’s specialty relates to this person in someway and set up an interview, and finally write a whole script with cues and such in a little over a week. To say that I was overwhelmed was an understatement.

However, I made it 1000 times worse for myself by still sticking with that laid back attitude leaving things to the last minute but still stressing over every little detail. That was until I had to finish my script where I ended up almost having a mental breakdown because I couldn’t get it to work with what my vision was for my podcast while still following the criteria for our project. I wanted to push the blame onto my teachers and say it was because we only had two days to do it all but I knew better. Even though that played into it the main blame was on me, I was the one who left it until the last minute, it was my fault.

This type of ability to take responsibility for your learning is something we’ve been working on this year. Each student has a grade contract that clearly states what is expected of each student based on what grade they want. So it is up to the student to uphold their end of the contract if the teachers are to up hold their’s. Meaning you and you alone must take responsibility for your learning and become the change you want to see in yourself.
