Hello and welcome back again to the 4 blog post posted this week !

This is yet another maker blog post but not on 7 habit but on the history/effects/ways and knowledge about videos/movies/films !!

Right around when we started believe in good we  began this project “vibrant videos”. This project is all about movies and films and knowing the different between a movie and a film and learning basic; movies history, transitions, effects, sound effects, editing skills and both post/pre production techniques.

Way back in the begging of April was had a very first assignment. We had to start to “think like a movie maker” how do you start to think like a movie maker you ask well? First we went up to our whiteboards and made a mind map (or course), a mind map about what? A mind map about a word, but not just any and on word. Mr.willemse came around agave us a word assimilated with film. (Eg. Film, movie, angles ) and you had to write the definition, characteristics, examples and non- examples of said word. We got “movie”

After that we went in depth of the history of movies. The first movie, the first fully computer animated movie, how they did effects what back when, the first movie with colour

In between lecture we would have opportunities to present of knowledge.

Our first opportunity to create was when we were told to make a video useing clips about  one of our hobbies and make it into a little video in clips while also including the requirement of; having atleast 3 establishing shots, a photo with pan or zoom and musical soundtrack to enhance mood

It was my first swing at film making so i didnt quite meet all the criteria … anyway

Next on the list of “films/videos we created for this project” we have the criterion of our silent  movie!

This film was directed and co. Directed by both my and Alicia and we spend our whole Saturday one weekend working/filing and editing it. It was defiantly my favourite product from this overall project. The requirements for this film were as followed; using a verify of angels, the use of a black and white filter, the whole film taking of place in one place, lass then 2 minutes, has an appropriate soundtrack and has the use of the “GASP” poster for titles.

The process for the creation of this film was pretty simple in my eyes. We had create/design our shared starboard, find a subject we were going to base our starboard on, decide on a location, determine some angles angles (although most of the angle planning when out the window when we were planning and we just “went with the flow” ), decide on characters/costumes/props and then figure our a whole bunch of stuff “post production like soundtrack, use of the “GASP” poster and of course making sure our video fits into the 2 minute mark

In the end we made an amazing 1:55 minute “mini movie” about hitting a home run

We are both very proud of this final product and it was used as an example for the class multiple times

Our next filming opportunity was to create a DIY video as a 2-3 person group. Makenna, Zach and I had created a plan/ storyboard few days again to create our DIY video of “how to ride a bike” but on the day of filming it was raining so zach didn’t bring his bike so we had to improvise and ened up making our new storyboard in like 5 minutes flat and came up wiht the miraculous idea to make a DIY videos on “how to draw a big happy family”. We filmed in right outside the PLP room and ended up with this master piece

And our last filming opportunity for this project was to “make the most of effects”. This one was by far the most exciting to film because we had all these new skills and knowledge about movie/film.

By using iMovie, clips and action movie mickey, Ewan, Julian and I came up with whatever this is? A crime fighting fairy? I’m not quite sure but here you go?

By the end of this project I can confidently say “I am a film maker”. I oscar award winning film maker ? Maybe not but still a better one than before.

This was a really fun project and provide a lot of new information I am excited to show in future projects!
