People and the Environment

Bonjour! How do people and the environment affect each other? That’s what we learnt this project! We did so much this project and I wanted to share.

We started off by learning a little bit about the environment. One thing that helped us learn about this topic was a keynote document that was filled with interesting videos and activities that helped us learn about our project.

Next we thought about a environmental problem that we could focus on. We each picked a topic, some had the same theme like deforestation or ocean pollution but they were all a little different. I picked the negative effects of textile waste or in simpler terms: The waste the clothing industry produces. I feel very strongly about this and thought it was a good topic to choose.

Next we started construction on our letters. Getting information and narrowing down our topic, this would greatly help us write our letter. I had a series of draft letters all helping me improve to create my final letter. Here they are:

As you can see a lot of drafts haha! When our letters were printed and signed by us we set out to mail them, our class went as a group to deep cove to mail our letters! It was really fun and we even got timbits.

While all this was happening we were doing something called “CommonLit” – you may have heard about it from other posts of mine or my classmates! The CommonLit “books” we read were Lee Sherman: A “book” that told us about a man named Lee Sherman and his experience with the company PPG and the illegal activity of dumping toxic waste into the Louisiana Bayou he did for them band how that had an impact on the whole town. Some other ones were H-ey Come on O-ut! and Quiet Town, more stories that teach us about the consequences of our actions and the outcome of it.

Overall this lesson taught me about the use of themes, how to right a proper letter, and about the relationship people have with the environment. IT was a great learning experience and I hope to get a letter back!

Sincerly,

Ines
