Meiosis Models

Ello, in this assignment we learnt all about meiosis and mitosis aka cell reproduction. In this project we started with our usual mind map and ended with a voice over video explaining what we’ve learnt, lets get into it.

To start off we did a mind map, this mind map as per usual contained what we already knew about the topic, our questions on the topic, and our thoughts on the topic – Here’s mine:

Next we did some tinker cad tutorials, tinker cad is a 3D building app (like the school version of sketch-up) which lets you create a multitude of things. We were using it to create models of the mitosis and meiosis systems – but first we had to remind ourselves how to use it we did this by doing some of the practice tutorials before handing it in.

Next we did our mitosis models, this had to include every step of the mitosis system and had to be labeled properly. Here’s mine:

After that was done we learnt a little more on meiosis before we did our meiosis models, this also had to include every step of the meiosis system and had to be labeled properly. Here’s mine:

While we were doing these 3D models we also were doing an experiment – you see over the time period of this project we had been growing garlic for an experiment. The experiment consisted of us growing garlic, and then when we were ready we cut the roots did some science stuff and placed it under a microscope. Under the microscope we were meant to see instances of mitosis and meiosis, I personally didn’t really see much or couldn’t identify anything but I did get some cool photos.

Next is was time to make our videos, the video had to consist of an explanation on what mitosis and meiosis are, a similarity’s and difference’s chart, and a few other things – Here’s mine:
