Hello everyone, in week nine of the student blogging challenge we were tasked with learning about code. Now I have never really been into coding or understood it. To me it was always something

boring. However I’ve learned that it can really be exciting for some people and it was actually pretty cool for me to do a little bit. This week I read a blog post from a guy named Alex. Alex is seventeen years old and has been visually impaired since he was fourteen. That didn’t stop him from pursuing what he loved though. He still attends school in the day but now he has a job where he writes code for the WordPress sites. Alex’s story was so empowering to me. It blew my mind that he was able to achieve so much at the age of seventeen, not to mention he did all of this while being blind. I left a comment on his post to share my feelings and et him know how much he inspired me.

Then it was my turn. I went onto the hour of code website where I got to make my very own flappy game. I used block coding and followed a tutorial about what I had to add and use when I wanted something to happen. For example a bar on the screen said when you click, then you had to add in a block saying what would happen when someone clicked. I obviously put in the block that said fly, and then below it I put a block that said make a wing noise. Then when I ran the software my bird flew when I clicked as well as making a flapping noise. I continued to play around with this for a long time. I had a lot of fun making this and it was super cool for me to see all the different things I coded, being added into the game. This whole thing gave me a very rewarded feeling.

Then it became the hard time. It was now time for me to try some HTML coding on my blog. I made a new post and followed instructions on how to make bold text and italic text. This was very confusing. Even though I knew exactly what to do because of the instructions and it was only a few little combinations, they made very little sense to me. I would find real coding very difficult and although the experience was very rewarding for me when it worked it did help me understand how much there was to understand. To all the coders in the world I would like to thank you because you make everything we want to do so much easier.
