Movie Review|| The last Jedi

The Star Wars, Episode The Last Jedi is shockingly good. You’d expect it to be loud and gargantuan and to hit its marks in the manner of JJ Abrams’s Force awakens which was the first episode under Disney is  as well as the first to leave George Lucas behind, presumably counting his money and leaving the fans. What you’d never dare expect is high style, let alone the kind of emotion that holds you through three different story’s Which hich has a mandate to look backward and forward as well as sideward at any character with the potential to be spun off into his or her own vehicle. But the new writer-director, Rian Johnson He pinpoints the intersection between characters’ desperate need to belong and the special effects that will lift those longings into the realm of myth. He achiees what no one else has since The empire strikes backk

Daisy Ridley returns as Rey, the orphan who, last time out, discovered that she had the Force and used it to repel an attack by the callow Darth Vader Wannabe Kylo REN    after which she took off (with Chewbacca and R2-D2) for the rocky island where Luke Skywalker lives in self-imposed exile. It was a holy moment at the end of The Force Awakens when she came face-to-face with him at the top of a long line of steps, bearing his old lightsaber. It’s an unholy moment in The Last Jedi when the last Jedi tosses it away and returns to his cave to feel sorry for himself. Not Yoda will he be, apparently. What’s eating Luke? It takes Rey a while to get the full story In the meantime, who should show up in visions but Ren, who carves out a quiet space in a parallel realm in which he and Rey share their innermost thoughts. She’s convinced that despite his fealty to the creepy Supreme Leader Snoke she can reach the core of Jedi decency in him, much as Luke once stirred the long-dormant heart of Darth Vader. But Luke has his doubts about Ren. Perhaps it had something to do with howHe skewered his own dad. The Rey-Luke-Ren triangle is really the main story line, but much time is taken up by Star Wars’ new high-flying cowboy, Poe Dameron

I also think, The last Jedi, there’s a lot of sleight-of-hand involved in making you think that the plot is moving forward instead of in circles. The first demolished space cannon is very exciting, the twelfth a bit of been-there-exploded-that. And how can it be that, however traumatic the intervening decades, the open-faced, shining-eyed Luke Skywalker has evolved into a raspy, hirsute, get-off-my-lawn old fart? His name should be Luke cavswalker like go help the rebels you old fart.

Live Video🏀

For this blog post I will be talking about my live event video we had to do. For this video I did my basketball practice. So we started off by warming up our practice had a lot of running for reason but we warmed up then got straight into our dribbling drills which help us when we are playing teams so we can use our ball control. Then we did our strength and conditioning drills. I understand the importance of the plank to make us stronger but oh boy does it burn. Then we ran our defence and offence for the rest of the practice and at the end we had a scrimmage it is really important that we had our defense down because we have a game against STA so hopefully it goes well.

So how I made this video was asked if I could get some footage and my coach said of course so every time I could because I was still practicing so every time I could I would film some clips and at the end of practice I interviewed Gabe about our coming games and how we are going to play.

Video skills blog post🤯

For our maker project we were tasked to write in our blog about all of our video skills and our videos. Our first video we made was our four shot film, it was basically about the different angles and shots you can get for taking video. It was really cool to see that you can see that you can use four shots to make a good film. So our video was about something bad so we had a guy who was homeless and he was really hungry so he eat a plant that ended up being poisonous plants. So he got a bad stomach ach and throw up then passed out. So that video was our warm you could say for Alberta so that brings me up to our second video ghost town this video we went to ‘a ghost town’ but really it was a town that the guy made don’t get me wrong it was a really cool place you really could learn a lot about the town and the olden days. So for our video it was pretty much could be anything you want so my group did a movie that his mom hit him in the head at the blacksmith shop and he woke up in this ghost town. Then he is followed by these mask men who try to kill him what I learned from this video is that you have to scout out your area and use everything to your advantage also when you have a time limit you have to work together and work hard.

It was a really cool experience because it felt like a real production and I think our movie turned out really good. Our next video was a big one our Alberta video this had been the biggest video so far. What we had to do answer the driving question how does place impact who we, are first off I like to talk about the Core competencies continuity and change how I did with that was pretty good I felt like I showed change by in my video I spent some time speaking about what I learned about how much place effect us which effects change.

So the first significant stop for me was rogers pass where we got some great footage for our interviews we interviewed 2 people about the tourism that comes here. Then the next interview was a lake Louise and boy is that place stunning it literally takes your breath away I highly recommend going there. So the guy we interviewed was named hawk and he was from the Cree nation, and he answered questions about the environment and how tourists were using it he said they were being responsible with the land and not littering so he said that the tourists were being respectful with the land. The next place was Columbia Icefield and when we were there it was amazing to see how this place is not going to be there for long so it kinda put into perspective how don’t take the earth for granted because it not going be here with the way we are treating it. When we got up there it was stunning the view was great. So now I will show you my first draft.

So as you can see there is a lot of room for some improvements so for my second draft I took myself out and added pictures and music more interviews and the first video was to long so I had a couple of days to improve so I did just that and I am really proud with my second video I think it shows how much I leaned and how far I have came since the first video here it is.

The last thing I would like to talk about was how this trip changed my life little on how i look at things and on how place affects people and your economy. This trip for me was really cool and made so many memories.

So the next video we did was our royal Terrel museum video for this video we had a partner and we had one hour to each film our video so my was about the  Albertosaurus this dinosaur was exclusive to Alberta so I thought it was a great idea to do him. What I did was go out to the front and talk about the place then went to the station and talked about it.

As you can see we dropped the ball on this one but I do think it was a good learning experience because I think that time limit and as you can see our mike did not cooperate at all of us so I think the pressure of all it really got to me in a time of it and I just couldn’t get it done. Some things improve on for next time is stay clam and really think our what I want to film and not just ran around like a crazy person. That was our last video in Alberta so moving on would be.

So know it was time to film so the day we filmed for our first draft it was raining really hard so it was hard to film but we made it work it was really cool to see what a real film looks like I mean I was in dead pool 2 so I got to see what it looks like lucky and I know a bit more about film because of that. So when we were filming I felt like a real actor on a real set I would love to be a actor in the future so all these videos I have been making have been a really cool experience. So after filming we had to edit and make sure the movie looked the same I thought it looked the same but obviously there were things to improve on but there are always things to improve on and we also ran out of time.

So here is our first video as you can see not the best compared to the actual film so my group was determined to make as close as possible to the film but the one problem was I was not wearing the same clothes and the weather was different so we had to re film the whole movie pretty much but that was ok because I think we did a lot better than the first video.

So here is our final video I think there is a lot if improvements in our second one compared to our first one. First off we used our own sounds and got all the shots and all around the editing was better. So in conclusion what I learned from this project was how to make a pre production how long it takes and how important it is to making a great film. Then I leaned about the production side of it what it takes to make a great film the shots and the angles the setting the weather all of that. Finally the post production what it takes to make the film look good and make sure you have enough b-roll because you can never ever run out of it. It is always a good thing to have more than not enough. The last thing I learned was how hard and fun it is to make to make films and how much more respect I give to people who make films because it is really hard and they make it look really good. So know in humanities we were working on all the different revolutions. But before that I would like to talk about the core competencies for the maker run video. The core Competency I would like to talk about is innovative designer. For a video we had to make a design process like our screen play storyboard coffee and then film that I really think our video wouldn’t be good and it wouldn’t really show our skills in filmmaking and video. Now back to the revolutions For this project we had to make for videos and turn of total three of them being mini videos so the options were to choosewhat is project we had to make for videos in terms of total three of them being mini videos so the options were to choose were the French Revolution American revolution Russian revolution so the first one we did was the French Revolution.

French Revolution this was pretty cool and my group did a John green style video he is the host for crash course. For our first video we had all of us in it my group members were Tom, Brenton, Jude and myself so I started it off with the interduction then tom and Brenton went back and forth for a bit. The video was decent it definitely could have been better but we did fool around for a bit even tho we didn’t have much time. So we definitely could have done better but overall it was decent video.

So as you can see the video is not our best so for the next video our next video was American Revolution for this we took a different approach we did a screen play. A screenplay is where you basically write out what you are going to say or a general idea of what to film so I thought that would help our group a lot so we tried it.SCREEN PLAY FOR THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION  so the point that was to make it easy for us to film because we already knew what we wanted to film. But in my opinion it did not help at all our video did not improve but actually it made it worst to be honest.

So as soon as I saw this video I thought to myself there is absolutely no way I can hand this in so I took the initiative to make a brand new video and it was way better I actually could hand it in.

I actually quite proud of this video since I made it all by myself and basically did in two nights. This video I think is better than our John green one for sure I put a lot more effort to be the leader in our group and make sure that everyone is working. For our next video it was the Russian revolution video and I took the lead in this one for sure we our last video before our final video so our video was a rap oh boy was this fun and really hard to film. It was fun because you can make up rap names and have fun filming but for my group it was also really easy to get out of task and fool around. But we started of by making a screen play and a story board this time it is basically were you draw what you want to film. So we made the rap our lyrics were very good I think and it all started to come together once were done filming we made our voice records and then I edited the whole thing and I think I did a really good job editing on it this was probably our best video yet we really tried and it came together.

So now we are on to our final video the take your kid to work day video. So the day started off by waking up at 7:30 and driving off to Burnaby one mistake I made was I didn’t sign out a mike because I it was a very late notice that I was going to my moms work. When we got there my mom started off by going around the building and explaining everything basically a tour. Whence I got the lay of the land this guy from maintenance and his name was sunny I will never forget that name for sure. So he took my around and explaining how the building works what has been fixed when I was there each year the redo the pool so I was there when it was happening it was really cool seeing the pool without water and how many people were working on it. That reminds me so thing I came out of there at the end of the day with how many people it takes to run a place like that. So when I got back from the tour I learned about my mom’s job and how it works I got to photocopy things my mom needed to photocopy. So my mom is in customer service, if you want a pass or rent the place out you will phone her. Her job is pretty cool not the most fun job I don’t see myself doing her job or anything like her job.

To end this off I know this is a long post but if you get this far I would like to say thanks for all the hard work from our teachers because this has been a really fun first term and it has motivated me to work harder and harder.

Week six

For this week we had to make something to do with emojis this week I chose emoji quiz guess the movie with the movie

How many did you get comment how many!!

Music!!!!

This week we had to create music, or do something with music so decided to make music I really like rap and those beats so decided to make a rap beat. For this music I used garage band.

Revolutions blog post!!

Hello everyone welcome back this one is all about the revolutions. So to start our project we did this thing called exploring evidence so what it was we had 4 station’s they were YouTube, magazine, website, book and we had a bunch of a questions that we had answer you are probably wondering what the heck does that have to do with Revolutions well I am to. The next thing we did was learn and make videos about the different revolutions our first one was the French Revolution this was pretty cool and my group did a John green style video he is the host for crash course. For our first video we had all of us in it my group members were Tom, Brenton, Jude and myself so I started it off with the interduction then tom and Brenton went back and forth for a bit.

But we started of by making a screen play and a story board this time it is basically were you draw what you want to film. Well as you can see pretty good beats🔥🔥 but we had good lyrics I think it explained our revolution really well. But after school l thought to myself there is some more I can do to fix it so I added some more beats that I thought really helped the rap also edited some lyrics. This one for sure was our BEST rap.

Now those are some 🔥🔥 beats I am really proud of this video I know this is not as nearly as good it could be the fact that I rapped most of it and made the music and edited so it turned out pretty good. Now for our final video I was not here I was in Las Vegas playing baseball so I am sure my group worked really hard on the video I know they made a John green/acting video so when I got back I watched it and I thought it was good. But just as you thought that I was done nope you get to read  even more. When we were doing this project we also had a reading about the French Revolution it was one of the best books we have read in PLP so it was about this girl named andi and she goes to Paris because her mom is not well and her grades its a really good book I recommend reading it. So to make sure that we were reading it we had worksheets to do but at the end me had to make a creative reflection on the book so what I did was there was a lot of songs in the book because andi likes music because it blocks all the bad stuff out so I made a song report I chose 4 songs that I thought fit well and wrote a little paragraph on each song and why I chose it.

Have you gone to your moms work?

Welcome back to another blog post today one is a little different. I will be writing about going to my moms work. Her job is pretty cool not the most fun job I don’t see myself doing her job or anything like her job but it’s not the worst job. so next I went out and spent a lot of time with the security guard because I really want to be a cop when I am older so that was really cool. What we did was a building check so we made sure everyone in the building was supposed to be in the building and everyone had a wristband then we fixed up the sign outside the building that was probably the coolest thing I did that day obviously because I want to be a cop so it was a cool experience. I learned a lot about how a real job works you do one thing for the whole day, one more thing I learned was it takes a lot of hard work to do your job and if you don’t do your jon you will have big consequences so do your job. The other part of this project was you had to make a video in my video I explain why I am here what I did and what I learned also you get to see some pictures of the place also I did an interview. I think it is a pretty strong video hope you enjoy.

I am running away with this project🏃🏽‍♂️

For this blog post we had to make a video called run it is a horror short film that is only 1 minute and we had to make a exact replica of the film my initial thought of this project was this is going to be so much fun and so hard at the same time. So my parters were meg and Angelo so our first task was sort of individual but you had to do this survey and then take a picture of what we got.As you can see I got a campaigner and some of my strengths are mind, energy, nature so this was a personality test at first I thought what does this have to do with our project at all but after some thinking I thought of we can use this to our advantage because when we are filming we can use some of these strengths that we got on our personalities test. So the next thing we did was watch the film RUN!!!

So this was the film we had to recreate exactly. After watching this film which I think is a very strong film my group had to make a screenplay which is basically a script of what you need to do. So here is our screenplay. One thing I would fix would be we put we see on every line I feel like our script could be more effective. Here is mrs. Maxwell told us to fix again not as many we see but overall a very good screenplay in my opinion. So by now we have a sense of what we are going to film and what we want our movie to look like, all these ideas starting to pop in my head of what I wanted it to look like. So know we had to make a storyboard which is basically you just draw what you want to film.

Correlation VS Causation!!

For this blog post I am writing about correlation vs causation, for this project we had to make a presentation about with a survey and a slideshow. Our first task was a MindNodeThat is were I learned really what correlation and causation meant now me and Kaia my parter thought of some questions to ask in our survey so we did but there ended up having no correlation so after a couple weeks of trial and error we finally got some correlation with our question it is how much time do you spend on your phone and your grade averages. So I did the scatter plot and found correlation.as you can see there is correlation so that was our first step in finding correlation because we need another one with correlation. So we asked you how many siblings you have and your grade average we found slight correlation and I think this question is a little bias because not all the class has one more than one sibling only I slight few of them do. The rest of the class has one sibling so it is a little bias towards the people with one sibling. There is the correlation with the second question as you can see very slight correlation but it works. So next we had to make a keynote presentation. Here is our evidence

week four blog post!!!

For this week we had any choice so I am going to Las Vegas on Tuesday after school so I am going to write about that. So first I will talk about the hard work that has to go in for me to go to Vegas. There is a lot of training that goes on like every Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday I am hitting or pitching and also going to the gym and working out getting stronger. The team I am playing for is a scout team so basically a sort if a prep team for D1 schools. Hard work= success that is one thing that I always think about when you go out on a very cold Saturday morning to go hit I think about that saying so I give it my best all the time. It also shows when you put the work in when I am not in the gym here is some of the stuff I use when I am at home. The picture below that is the things that I have won or got for being MVP and some baseballs the rings are stuff I have won in Las Vegas and Arizona. So hard work really does pay off so next I will talk about our trip we leave this Tuesday and go to Bellingham were we spend the night then leave for Vegas the next day. When we get there we have the rest of the day for going to the strip. Then it is down to business for baseball on Thursday and Friday getting prepared for the tournament then Saturday and Sunday, Monday are the games and hopefully I can bring home another ring.
