Back in September, we started a unit in maker class about humor in videos. The final challenge of this was to choose a comedy video from the internet and then recreate it in groups of three. I worked with Morgan and Daniel. The first step of this was to choose a video. We had already created one video recreation of a video we were given in class, which you can watch below. Here is the original video for reference.

Finding our own video to create was a lot trickier because it was hard to find a funny video that was also easy to produce.
Most of the videos contained sets that we didn’t have access to or more than three characters. We eventually settled on this one, called Empty Fridge. It had only two characters and took place in an ordinary kitchen.
In order to film this, we had to empty the contents of my entire fridge onto our kitchen counter. This was quite a pain, but we were able to get it done pretty quickly. Another challenge of this was that we had to film from some tricky angles in order to get the shots just right. For example, in one clip, I had to hide to the side of my fridge when walking into the shot because in the original they had a hallway to that side of the fridge that I didn’t. We had to take a lot of takes because it was very hard to recreate each frame exactly with what we had available.
We worked together to edit the video, and it turned out very similar to the original. I’m very proud of this because it took a lot of effort and forced us to get creative with our resources. Our final video is right below!
