Hey guys, this post is going to explain the process we went through to create a poster for our Winter Exhibition. If you would like to read the first post where I reflected on the 2018 Winter Exhibiton, click here. Well without further ado, lets get started!

When we were told about what we had to do for the exhibition, it felt like we were swamped with work, but in reality we had to create 3 masterpieces, a poster, a snack, and an activity. We started with the poster.

Each group was randomly assigned a religion to study on, and we received Islam. Our group decided that we wanted to stand out from the rest and create a poster with a 3-D model of the Earth. There were 7 aspects of worldview that had to be displayed in each groups poster. Here are the 7 aspects of worldview:

We figured that showing the Earth and the temples around it facing towards Mecca would show geography, beliefs, society, and values. But we weren’t quite sure how to show the others. After about 2 classes, we scratched that idea and decided to go with a different layout. As we started putting words into pictures, it didn’t turn out the way we hoped. Everything started to get crowded and all over the place! Here is our very first draft:

We would work on it and then stand back and look at it, and it didn’t click for any of us. We refused to give up and revised many many times. It was a lot of work for us to go up to Ms. Willemse and get sent back to revise a million times. It felt as though we were taking 2 steps forward, and then one back. We arrived at our second draft which looked like this:

We were told that the second draft was too wordy for Ms. Willemse so we revised for what felt like the millionth time, when we were told the worst news ever. We had to start from the beginning. We scraped every idea we had and tried to start with a complete different mindset. Ms. Willemse told us to create 3 new drafts and then present them to her. My group decided to separate, two people working on one draft, another two working on the other draft, and one person was doing the third draft. My partner and I took the idea of creating 5 sections, and in each of the section would be a pillar of faith. The teachers picked our idea and we started building. You want to see what it looks like? Well wait no more, here it is!

Yup! Thats our final draft. We presented this poster at our 2018 WInter Exhibiton. Even though we were the last team to be approved, we still kept working because deep inside our hearts we all wanted our team to do well. The Exhibition ended up as a success and everyone in the school enjoyed it!
