Summer has come to a sad end but I’m ready for grade 10 in plp. We started off the year strong in humanities by reading new books. Our diving question for this unit is “how do authors use text to teach us more about ourselves?”

The book I’m reading is “ More Happy Than Not” by Adam Silvera. I picked this book because I thought the story was interesting and I’m glad I picked it because when I started reading it I couldn’t stop. I’m only on chapter 7 but the book makes the reader want to continue reading to see what will happen next. The story is about a sixteen year old boy named Aaron Soto who is trying to find happiness in his life. He is struggling to find happiness because of a family tragedy but with the help of a new friend named Thomas he starts to open up about his past, instead of keeping everything to himself and hurting himself. I have a feeling that in this book Aaron will learn that he shouldn’t want to forget his family’s tragedy because you learn from every mistake and that event should just be a learning experience.

Every Tuesday and Friday our class meets with classmates that are reading the same book. My book group consists of Adlih, Kailey, Logan, Isabelle, and Luca. For our first book challenge we had to make a video showing three important scenes that we have read so far. Before we started filming we wrote a few important things about our book on the whiteboard.

Here is our video.
