Hello blogreaders,

School is out for summer! That year went by so fast but so slow at the same time. 3 years of plp and I’ve never experienced a exhibition so crazy and amazing at the same time. I loved working on this year’s project because it related back to an amazing trip we went on. In this post I’m going to talk about all the work and wonders we went through.

This units driving question was “How could you convince your neighbour that their life is not complete until they’ve experienced what you’ve experienced?” At first I I did not know how to answer this question but the answer came to me during the amazing trip we went on.

The Trip

We went on a 12 day trip circling BC. During this trip we stopped by many places to experience and explore. Every day we would wake up ready to collect information. This trip was so memorable. It’s definitely my favourite trip. The amount of bonding and knowledge I got was unbelievable. Here is the journal I made on the trip for every day.

The trip taught me to always have an open mind and collect information. I could never just turn my brain off, even when I was playing games with the teachers at night, I was learning. The effects this trip had on me is everlasting and I will carry on with me forever.

Podcast

We can’t just go on a trip and not do an assignment on it. So, for this trips assignment we were tasked with making a podcast. These podcasts had the same driving question of “How could you convince your neighbour that their life is not complete until they’ve experienced what you’ve experienced?” I realized that the answer to the question for me was the community sense that I felt on the trip. The podcast was due at the end of our trip, so everyone spent the 22 hour ferry ride recording our podcasts. Due to the ferry background noises, our podcasts were not so high quality. We made 3 drafts of this podcast and finally posted onto SoundCloud because we were showing them off at the exhibition.

Exhibition

If you are reading this and you don’t know what Blue Sky is, I’m sorry, you have to stop reading this right now and go check out my other post on Blue Sky by clicking here. I’ve done an exhibition 6 times now, so I’m pretty much a professional exhibitor, but I’m not explaining Blue Sky again.

This year we did something different than the 8’s and 9’s. We based our projects around our podcasts. The answer we found to the units question was what we had to present. My project was based around community. My driving question was “how might we get regular students to actually experience different communities?” For the project I did a lot of research and found were I thought teen could volunteer. I even did a surgery and interview. My artifact ended up being an brochure to help teens figure out where they can volunteer and what works best for them.

The Night

The night fo the exhibition was crazy yet amazing to see. It took us a long time to set up the room but the end results were amazing and honestly worth working for. I was able to talk to so many people because I was at the very front entrance of the room and people had to talk to me to know what was happening in our room. I told people about our trip and they could not believe our teachers would do something like that for us. Everyone loved hearing about the trip and thought our room was pretty neat.

Reflection

In the end, I’ve learned so much and I’m excited for next year. Even though I won’t be doing plp next year, I will still try and come write up a few blogposts to reflect. Reflecting is always important thats why these blogposts are so important. Thank you all for joking me on my PLP adventures.

Goodbye.
