Using Live Loops

Making music can be incredibly hard right? Well I made my first song and uploaded it to SoundCloud in less than 1 hour! My secret? Using live loops in GarageBand.

We started off by learning how to trigger the live loops in the GarageBand app.

To trigger a single loop all you need to do is click on it. If you want to trigger an entire column, you just click the small grey arrow at the bottom of each column.

Once we had learned that, it was up to us to create our own musical masterpiece. After starting a new project, I decided that I wanted to go for something more electric and relaxed so I chose the chill theme.

After playing around with the loops already in the theme and testing out how they all sounded, I deleted some of the louder and more beat sounding loops, and decided to add some vocal loops in.

Once I added the new loops in, I listened to it again and decided to add some synth sounding loops to give it a furturistic sound. Then again, I listened to it and changend a few things up, like the volume of certain loops and adding in a few more vocals to finish things off. Once I felt satisfied with the way things were sounding, I recorded the song and uploaded it to SoundCloud.

To be honest, I thought making a song would be much more challenging and time consuming. But I’m excited to say that it really wasn’t. Now I’m able to make my own music and the process is simple and easy to do. I definitely will be using the GarageBand live loops again!
