In my scimatics 8 class we were learning about plate tectonics. Instead of only using the textbooks to learn about plate tectonics my teacher decided that we would write a book about plate tectonics and then present it to a grade 4/5 class. But before we learned about tectonic plates we had to make a mind map with questions we had about tectonic plates.

Once we made the mind map we could start planning our book. I decided I would make a picture book about a little brown bear named Tiny Tim who falls through the earth and discovers the tectonic plates. He finds his way home with the help of a alien who lives on the tectonic plates.

I feel that next time I could use some of my class time more efficiently. Sometimes in class i would sit with people who I knew I wouldn’t work well with. Most of the time when we sat together I would get hardly any work done. Next time we do a project I’m going to listen to music will I’m working instead of talking to my friends.

For next time I will also add more information about the stuff we had been working on. Though my book was a good picture book it did not have the right amount of information about the science in the book. Next time I would make my book longer as well. My book this time only had 13 pages. My goal for next time would be to have 20 pages.

In this project I felt that I have gotten a lot better at being more creative in Book Creator. When we first started this project I had no idea how to use the app or even how to make a picture book. But by the end of this project I felt like a pro while using the app.

This project taught me a lot about tectonic plates. When we started this project I didn’t even know how the plates moved or how earthquakes cause tsunamis. Even though sometimes I was very confused I tried my best and figured it out.

That’s all about my tectonic plates project.
