Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Hello and welcome to my first ever TPol. Last time we were here we were talking about my MPol and some of the learning goals I had a learning story about myself. When I talk to you last time I said that I’d like to be more on top of my work that was my learning goal. For the most part, at first, I was handling things in a little bit early and on time. I was procrastinating less and putting my all into the work I handed in. However, when we were forced to work alone and only see each other over zoom I started to lose my goal I was handing things in late and I was not finishing assignments. I was really good at telling myself that I have time to do it later and believing it and then telling that to myself over and over and over again. I also found myself having a lack of motivation because I didn’t have to worry about my grades. Having to worry about grades has been what makes me hand stuff in on time and hand in good work however with that aspect of school out of the picture it was a lot harder to get myself to do the work. I also found that I was really struggling to work when I couldn’t work with people in person. Not seeing people every day also made it really hard for me to do my work like I talked about in my MPol I now work better in groups which means doing these projects in complete isolation very hard. Here today I’m still going to talk about my work before Covid as well as during.

Let me tell you about my experience with Destination imagination. Β This project took a lot of patience for the people in your group but also finding the solution to the problem. Being in the improv group was something I was not very excited about at first in fact it was my fourth choice out of 5 so it meant I had to really go out of my comfort zone. I learn to be quick on the spot at making new things and how to solve problems when under pressure with a time constraint. Doing this really helped me grow as a learner. In this project the competency was Research and understand which at first didn’t make sense to me but I figured it out in the end.

Next I’ll tell you about Argh Matey, a humanities and scimatics mix project. This projects competency was historical significance. This meant deciding which part in an explorers life was worth putting in the comic this was hard because my explorer had a very interesting life and it would have probably made a more interesting story however I had to decide what the most significant to history.

Now I’ll tell you about a project we are just wrapping up now Life in New France. For this project I will be telling you about my Evidence Video and my short story. The first assignment we were asked to do was pick an object that we can look back on later and better understand what we are going through right now. We were given the choice to write a paragraph about it or create a video.

I would have usually written more paragraphs than necessary but instead I made a video. This pushed me little out of my comfort zone. Instead of sticking to what I know I’m good at I tried something new. When it came time to write the short story I was not optimistic. I had only ever written stories in French and they had good ideas but they were never well written so I assumed this story would be bad. But once I started writing it I realized I want so bad at creative writing. During this project I really improved the competency communicate. I learned to communicate my ideas and findings without writing them in paragraphs while I learnt I’m not bad at creative writing. I also improved with my research skills because we had to research petty things like, were there days of the week in New France? Or what kind of tea did they drink in 1672?

Even though I may not have been a perfect student I have never learnt more in a single school term. I drastically improved my research skills. And I leant that music really helps me focus. And lastly I learnt that my biggest motivation is the people around me, my family, teachers and friends. I’ll see you next at my MPol!
