The World Of Me

So, if you’ve clicked on this, you’re wanting to know more about me! My name is Ruby, and I’m currently in Grade Ten of the program called PLP. This blog will keep you up to date on all projects and things going on in this program.

I enjoy Theatre, movies, TV, books, and Oreos (I have an addiction). Some movies I like include Harry Potter, Star Wars, Alien, Avengers, Deadpool, and Lord Of The Rings. I watch a web series called Sanders Sides which I really enjoy. I also do Tae Kwon Do, and I am a brown belt. My favourite subject in school is Drama, and I hope to one day either become a reporter or an actor!

“Today is going to be a good day, and here’s why: because today at least you’re you, and that’s enough” – Evan Hansen [Dear Evan Hansen]

For an assignment in our Maker time block, we had to do a series of things.

One: Pick A Quote

Two: Find/Create A Visual

Three: Create Fitting Music

Four: Record Ourselves Saying The Quote

Five:

Yes I know that’s a dead meme. Anyways, onto the project

First, we had to pick a quote that we enjoyed, and felt represented us. I chose the above quote from one of my favourite musicals, Dear Evan Hansen.

This quote means a lot to me, because it shows that there’s no pressure to be something big and great. If you just be yourself, that’s fine. Not everyone has to be famous to make a mark on this world. I (at the time of making this) am not famous, but I can still be myself, and that’s enough. I can stand out without going onto Broadway or being a big hit singer. And it shows other people that you don’t need to change yourself to fit in, being you is enough.

I drew an image to represent this, and it’s a bunch of different people, with a drawing of myself in the centre. I did this drawing in an app called Sketches Pro, which I’ve just learned how to use. The app is really helpful for any digital artist, because it has the options of layers, which means you can layer different areas of the drawing on top of each other. It’s helpful for shading, or if you need to trace something, or if you need to colour in some line art. My final drawing looked like this:

Onto Music and Recording. These things go hand in hand, as I used Garage Band for both. The music I created was loosely based off of the song  Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen, one of my favourite songs in the musical. I felt like the tone fit the quote I was saying, and I’m proud of that. Recording didn’t take much, just a few attempts of me sitting in my closet (it’s got good acoustics for what I’m doing here, okay?) and messing up the quote a few times.

I eventually put everything together in iMovie and uploaded it to YouTube. And here’s the final product:

Have you learned enough about me yet? If not, I’ve actually written a song about Myself, because hey why not. If you’d like to see it, it’s the giant video down below:

Well, I hope you learned a bit about me, your friendly neighborhood blogger!

Read you later!

Sincerely, Me
