Create a RADIO ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Society for children and youth are seeking youth age 14 – 24 to create radio announcements on the rights and issues that are important to them. If you are a person who is concerned about discrimination, poverty, a clean environment, your right to participate? Then this program is for you! View poster here! Have your voice heard – All participants will receive human rights training, gain leadership skills, and media training. As a group, we will create a set of 30-second radio public service announcements that will be played on radio stations throughout BC about rights-related issues that are important to you. What can you expect? The first 2 days of training will explore youth rights related topics like community building, education, poverty, well-being, discrimination, and safety. On the third day, we will record the announcements and get them ready to go on the radio. We will all collaborate to produce a PSA in 3 stages:
1) Record voice and sound
2) Produce the PSA
3) Distribute the PSA to radio stations throughout BC.

This is a 3 day commitment! Participants who complete all 3 days of training will receive a $100 honourarium. The training will take place during the day on October 22nd, 23rd (Saturday and Sunday) and November 5th. Who can apply? All youth aged 14 – 24 from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland are welcome to apply. All transportation costs will be covered. We are looking for a diverse group of youth who can commit 3 days to the project.
