RE: Spring Break Gallery Assistant Work Experience Placement

 

The Vancouver Aquarium is currently recruiting 14 for our Spring Break 2013 Work Experience Placement. As a work experience student, they will be working within a team of students and staff to create the ultimate visitor experience for all of our visitors this spring. Their days will be filled with fun and varied tasks and they will have the opportunity to engage, amaze and inspire thousands of guests of all ages and from all around the world!

 

Title: Spring Break Gallery Assistant Placement
Departments: Visitor Experience Team
Term of Position: Mandatory Group Interview:

Sunday February 17, 2013 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm

*Short list candidates will be invited for a group interview at the aquarium. Candidates will be contacted by February 8, 2013.

 

Mandatory Training: (All students must attend both days)

 

Saturday March 9th from 3:00pm – 8:00pm

Sunday March 10th from 12:00pm – 5:00pm

 

Group A (7 students)

Specific Dates: March 16, 19, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 30 and April 1

 

Group B(7 students)

Specific Dates: March 17, 18, 20, 23, 26, 28, 29, 31

 

Shift times 9:15am – 5:00pm

Description of Volunteer Opportunity:
  • Kiosk Attendant
  • Plaza Assistant
  • Parking Greeter
  • Visitor Surveys
  • 4D assistant
  • Information Desk Attendant
  • Gallery Greeter
Skills Preferred:
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Students currently in Grade 10, 11 or 12.
  • Genuine interest in working with the public
  • Strong communications skills
  • Experience with delivering excellent customer service
  • Second language an asset

 

Please Note: This is not an animal handling position.  Students will have limited contact with marine animals.

Volunteer Benefits:
  • Gain customer services and communication skills
  • Chance to meet people from all over the world
  • Priority placement in the volunteer training
  • Gain work experience hours

RE: Interpretive Delivery Spring Break Work Experience Placement

 

The Vancouver Aquarium is currently recruiting 20 students for our Interpretive Delivery Spring Break Work Experience Placement.

 

As a work experience student, they will be working within a team of students, volunteers and staff to create the ultimate educational experience for all of our visitors this spring break. Their days will be filled with fun tasks ranging from face painting to educating about sharks, skates and rays. Throughout their days they will have the opportunity to engage, amaze and inspire thousands of guests of all ages and from all around the world!
