Position: Recruitment & Retention Assistant – High School PT Intern

FY International (FY) is an international organization formed by independent auditing, accounting, tax, consulting, and legal firms.

FY’s Head Office in Vancouver, BC is currently accepting applications from students currently enrolled in a secondary institution who are eager to gain corporate environment experience as a Recruitment & Retention Assistant. The incumbent will be required to be available to work during the summer months. During this temporary part-time internship, the incumbent will receive mentorship and support for his/her success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Research, identify and screen potential associate candidates
  • Assist in improving recruitment processes and strategies
  • Assist with communication with prospective candidates
  • Assist the Admission Committee during the review process
  • Assist with filing records of new associates
  • Assist with the maintenance of the organization’s intranet

Qualifications

The intern must be detail oriented and possess a strong attitude towards learning and collaboration.

Other required skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively (i.e. good writing, proof reading, listening and speaking skills)
  • Experience using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Capacity to exercise proper professional behaviour, ethics, and integrity
  • Has leadership qualities, is a team player and is versatile

Remuneration

This is a non-paid position.

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Minimum 14 years of age
  • Commitment to a minimum of 1 camp session (5 consecutive days) is preferred
  • A passion for being outside, in the forest and the mountains
  • Camping experience and outdoor skills an asset
  • Personable, friendly and keen to gain experience working with kids

Volunteer Duties & Expectations

  • Arrive on time
  • Assist Instructors in group management, group safety, skill based activities, facilitating games and providing the participants with the best experience possible.
  • Provide an excellent example for the participants by:
    • Being professional
    • Demonstrating strong leadership characteristics
    • Being dressed and prepared for the day outside in all weather conditions
    • Sharing your love for the outdoors!
  • Maintain a polite and professional attitude while on the mountain

Camp Schedule and Transport

  • Camp runs weekdays July 4 – Aug 25th from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Volunteers are welcome to use the camp shuttle bus
  • If riding the shuttle bus, volunteers are expected to assist the Shuttle Driver and Supervisor with participant supervision and safety
  • Volunteers will be given orientation training their first day on site

Summer Volunteer/Work Experience At The Vancouver Aquarium

 

 

The Vancouver Aquarium is currently looking for summer volunteers to fill various positions! Positions include: Marine Educator Aqua Camps, Interpretive Delivery Placement, and Gallery Assistant.

Seeking Teen Tech Tutors!

 

Tech Tutors is a library program that helps adults explore the library’s digital resources and provides help with their technology and computer-related questions.  Adults are matched with a teen volunteer for a one-to-one session, during which they will explore whichever question or topic is of most interest.

The Library is looking for up to four Tech Tutor Volunteers who:
* Are going in to grade 10, 11, or 12 in Fall 2017
* Don’t need to be tech wizards, but are willing to explore a variety of questions
* Are patient, supportive and willing to engage and interact with adults and seniors
* Can mentor, support and guide adults in learning digital skills, without taking over the activity
* Are able to communicate clearly, effectively and courteously with adults, seniors, and library staff
* Are able to keep schedules, notes & statistics; can work together on projects

Volunteers must be able to commit to at least 3 sessions, plus 1 training session.
Training: Wednesday, July 5th, 2:30-3:30pm at Lynn Valley Library
Tech Tutors:

Capilano Library
Mondays 2-4pm July 10-July 31.
Parkgate Library
Tuesdays 2-4pm July 11-August 8.
Lynn Valley Library
Wednesdays 10am-12pm, July 12-August 9.

Volunteers will rely on library staff for training, supervision, emergency assistance and support. All volunteers must complete a criminal record check, and those who complete at least 3 sessions of volunteer work will receive written confirmation.

Be the Change You Want to See! Do you want to learn to be a leader in your community? Join the FREE Neonology Youth Leadership Camp, July 11 – 14, (with one overnight). You will go on fun outings throughout the North Shore, learn about diversity, teamwork, and conflict resolution and make new friends. You will also get volunteer hours for 3 days in late August, as well as a group project during the school year.
