Camp Ignite Program for girls in gr. 11 & 12

The District of North Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services is proud to be sponsoring one high school girl to participate in this year’s Camp Ignite program.

This is a FREE four day camp mentorship program where young women get to explore the career of firefighting with fun hands-on skills activities, team work, and employment mentorship in general.   All meals and activity fees, if any, are included.  We visit fire halls in the lower mainland each day for activities and stay in housing at Simon Fraser University for the three nights.  We are always gratified to see the smiles and excitement when each girl masters each task. And they do!  The girls have access to many professional emergency services personnel including fire, ambulance and specialty services such as meeting Lola, a trauma therapy dog.  Lastly, each student will leave the program with certificates in Fire Extinguisher Training, CPR and a certificate of completion.  This is all great for resume building.

Camp Ignite Mentorship Program was designed by Metro Vancouver female firefighters specifically for girls. The Camp was designed to help girls realize a future of limitless opportunities and that regardless of your gender, anything is possible. Camp Ignite is a four-day camp that educates and inspires young women through firefighting activities designed to encourage teamwork, courage, commitment, strength of character, and health and fitness.

This year’s Camp will run from August 8-11, 2019 in the Vancouver area.

The Camp is open to girls in grades 11 through 12 (ages 16 – 18).

Application deadline is June 1, 2019.

Our three municipalities will be sponsoring up to three girls from the North Shore to attend Camp.    Applications are also available online at www.campignite.com.
