Youth Leadership Advisory Board

YouthLAB is a Family Services North Shore initiative that was created to address mental health issues facing young people, from a youthled perspective. YouthLAB meets throughout the year to learn, discuss and create art around mental health topics affecting youth including anxiety, depression, trauma, healthy relationships and social justice issues. Each year we work towards an outreach project with a focus on engaging other youth on these topics, reducing stigma, and creating stronger communities.

Family Services of the North Shore offers an annual youth volunteer program. Youth Leadership Advisory Board (Youth-LAB) helps reach at-risk youth. Youth volunteers advise staff on new youth outreach strategies for the agency to decrease barriers for youth accessing help and/or counselling services. A new group of youth volunteers is selected every spring for a September start. The Youth-LAB program is open to 15 – 18 year old North Shore high school students interested in mental health and it runs September to June.

The application deadline is July 3 as we hope to interview through the summer and notify people by September 1st.  Hours can be used for Work Experience if you are taking it next year.

Please contact Ms. Bramley if you have any questions.

STEM Fellowship

I am contacting you on behalf of STEM Fellowship, which is a Canadian registered charity that equips students with skills in data analytics and scientific communication through mentorship and experiential learning programs. We are currently recruiting a Social Media YouTube Manager and two Design Team Video Content Creators to run the SF YouTube account; we believe that this position can offer a valuable professional experience for students and request you to share the details of our recruitment plan with students and contacts at your school.

The Social Media YouTube Manager is responsible for spending at least 1 hour per week being active in the YouTube community. They subscribe to channels that offer similar content as SF and leave comments under those videos to attract our target audience. They also organize the playlist of videos uploaded by SF, form names for playlists and re-write video descriptions to engage a wider diversity of audiences. Design Team Video Content Creators create video content and also act in some videos; therefore, acting experience is an asset for this position. They are also responsible for getting video content reviewed by the design team lead and the marketing strategist team to ensure the content aligns with our specific marketing goals. Furthermore, they collaborate with other Design Team Video Content Creators to discuss future video ideas.

Leading our SF Youtube team can enable students to develop essential skills in leadership, project management, problem-solving, communication and data analytics, while building connections with student leaders and academia and industry experts.

We would appreciate it if you could please share the following Call for Applications with your students: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fqMeJWB-ESXAo3xfIoDWWF_f3E9aebsD/view?usp=sharing

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to hearing back from you.
