As North America’s largest Gran Fondo, our team relies on a network of kind and enthusiastic volunteers to ensure that our biggest event of the summer goes off without a hitch. Our Squadra of Volunteers are a source of pride for our community and riders; they’re hearty, generous, and determined. We are reaching out to you today because we believe Seycove students fit these descriptors, and so we want to invite your students and faculty to join our Squadra this 2023 season! There are still many volunteer shifts available starting Thursday, September 7th through to Sunday, September 10th, 2023, all of which can be viewed by clicking here!

Join the Vancouver Maritime Museum’s Summer Camp Youth Team:The VMM is seeking motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic volunteers to assist summer day camps. They will help promote maritime-themed programs and a love of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans through a fun blend of storytelling, games, crafts and walking on an actual boat –the St Roch.

with university students, faculty members, and/or working professionals in STEM fields. See topics

Robotics
May 20, 2023 | 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm | Grade 8-12
Our guest speaker for May is Paige Tuttosi, who is a PhD student at SFU’s School of Computing
Science. Paige’s current research interests are human computer/human robot interaction,
technology aided language learning and general social good uses for AI. Her talk in May will
introduce the field of robotics with a focus on technology design for human-computer/human-robot
interactions. Join this talk to learn more!

Health Sciences
June 3, 2023 | 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm | Grade 8-12
Our guest speaker for June is Dr. Malcolm Steinbeig, who is an Associate Professor and the Director
of Public Health Practice at SFU. Dr. Steinberg is also a Physician Epidemiologist with the Division of
STI/HIV Prevention and Control at the BC Centre for Disease Control. His talk in June will introduce
the field of public health and its importance. Join this talk to learn more!

HOUR++ OF CODE
The Hour Plus Plus of Code event features various one-off workshops for school-age students to
learn how to code and implement popular digital tools. Between May to June 2023, we will be
offering multiple online workshops on various topics ranging from user interface and experience
design, programming logic foundations (in Python and Java), mobile app development, and game
development. Please review the overview and requirements document for each workshop before
registering. Not sure if coding is for you? Join us for these workshops and let us change your mind!
