TPOL

Pledge: Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am an expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my project. We will discuss my strengths and weaknesses. Thank you in advance to my teachers for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

Introduction paragraph:

Hi, I’m Simon and welcome to my TPOL. During this presentation, I will be answering my driving question and using evidence to support my claims. The driving question is, Why do you feel you are ready to advance to the next grade level. This is a follow up to my MPOL, during which I went over mybig challenges. One of the challenges was organization, the other was social skills.

Why do I feel I deserve to advance into the next grade level?

My big struggle was organization, as my teachers can probably remember. My organization has come a long way. And example of such is my organization of our basecamp folder, during this blue sky project. During our first and second blue sky, multi grade zoom meetings, I organized our groups, helping people divide up the work. This made organization much harder, because now we had people extra roles. I added new sections to our basecamp sheet, helping organize the info about our work.

During the first couple of months of the pandemic, whilst we were in social distancing, I organized my days and weeks. This was in the form of a schedule in  the calendar app. Are used all the information I knew about my week and I organized it in my calendar so I’d have enough time to do all my work. This persisted for a while but then I transitioned to using Things the app. This was a very good method of organization, and I think it proves that I am capable of using the tools that I have and staying organized in a well-thought-out manner.

Since online school has been in large part revolving around zoom calls, I set up my own system of organization to be able to attend my zoom calls on time. I thought that I might not be checking the calendar every hour of every day, which is true. So, I set alarms, so that I could be on time to my zoom calls these alarms corresponded around 5 to 10 minutes before your zoom calls. Now, I have shifted them so that they are right on time with the zoom calls. Are use the system of organization that I developed, not that I’m cleaning that I’m the first person who thought of this, but I did come up with it on my own.

The other portion I had to work on, with social skills. I feel like I have greatly improved in my social skills, and I hope that my teachers have noticed. Example of such was during a zoom call in a breakout room. I was in a room with three other students who I have never really gotten along with and almost always get in arguments with. But, I was able to not cause any trouble, and to stay friendly towards them.

another example is in the classrooms I hope my teachers noticed. There were often opportunities especially during the scimatics classes, where I could have gotten into an argument with my peers. I did my best and I didn’t rise to the bait and I think that that shows improvement.

During certain zoom calls their have been certain inappropriate comments,  in which I could have inserted myself into the situation. Instead, I let it go because if everyone acted the way I would’ve acted couple months ago it would be a lot of people getting into an argument with one person.

thank you for coming to my presentation of learning, I hope you agree with my statements.
