Destination Imagination (Updated !WE WON!) (REFLECTION BLOG)

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another blog. Today’s subject is destination Imagination (Or DI for short); for those who don’t know, DI is a curtail part of being in the PLP program, and when joining PLP, you automatically sign up for DI. If you’re wondering what DI is, well: Destination Imagination is a volunteer-led, educational non-profit organization that teaches “21st-century” skills and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) principles to kindergarten through university-level students by collaborative problem-solving challenges. My team was the science team; at the start of things, we had to pick a name, so we chose The Simple Solutions. For the science team, you are challenged to break one scientific law, and then you must explain how the law works and the chances of that law-breaking in real life. There are two challenge videos we must complete. The first one we must focus on is the Main Challenge. For the Main Challenge, we have to break one scientific law and then explain its chances of breaking in real life. Our scientific law was Newton’s Law Of Gravitational Motion; our solution to breaking this law was first we needed to find a topic to write a script around. First, we started the writing and character development, and then we would continue to focus on the script and Filming locations, And finally, Film! Our Story was About a Boy who Experiences an unexplainable event while playing basketball. lucky I’m allowed to show you our challenge video, so here it is:

Finally we had to do our insta challenge, now due to some strict rules I’m not allowed to show you my insta challenge video but I am allowed to tell you about it! Basically an insta challenge is a challenge that can only be around 2 minutes long, any longer and you will be disqualified. A typical insta challenge would give you no information until the last moment, but sense of the COVID-19 pandemic they gave us time to practise and come up with a script for our insta challenge. I found the main challenge video to be the hardest but also the most enjoyable. In the end DI was a great chance to grow my collaborative learning skills and I’m definitely looking forward to DI next year. Thank you for tuning in and ill see you in the next blog!

DI Update! We made it! We came first in the Medium Level Scientific challenge, and we came first in the insta challenge! I’m so happy for us and I for one cant believe we pulled it off. Well done team and I cant wait for DI next year! (After winning this also means we might go to the Globals!)

The final DI reflection, Used to think, Now I think:

For used to think now I think we were challenged to type out a short little description of how we thought of DI at the beginning and what we now think of it today, so I’m excited to show you how I used to think and now I think:
