Winter Exhibition 2022
For my winter exhibition, each grade made different projects that were based off the movie Avatar. For grade 8’s our task was to create a box that answered the driving question which is: “What does James Cameron’s world of Avatar reveal about our society?”
We also had to create a theme statement. My theme statement was: “Humans often gather more resources then are needed and in doing so they cause other populations to die and suffer.” this related to the conflict between humans and nature.
I think that our first ever, Winter Exhibition went very well. We had two and a half weeks to work on it. I made my box in three days but it became “a work in progress, as more and more ideas came to me. This made my box look more complex and complete. I was very happy with the final results!
I presented it on a wooden box with a sheet over it and I added fairy lights to make the box look brighter.
My group and I worked pretty well while decorating our assigned classroom but we could have worked more as a group when setting things up. Although, we got things done in good time and agreed on things quickly.
Standing by my station and talking about my box for two and a half hours, got tiring and board near the end. I got some constructive feedback that I should talk louder and look at the audience more.
I think that we could have gotten more breaks or one longer break to eat, walk around or sit down for a little while.
Next year, I would like to make a keynote presentation or a documentary film based on another movie. I saw the grade nines and tens work and it looked really cool and fun to make. I think that the movie avatar had great graphics and it told a good story. I told away a good message from this movie.
Over all I learned a lot from my first ever PLP exhibition and I am looking forward to are next one in the spring!
