Thank you for coming to my Presentation of Learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.
Welcome back to another POL. This time it is my tPOL! If you don’t know, tPOL stands for Transitional Presentation of Learning. Today I will be reflecting on myself as a learner throughout Grade 10 and also telling you why I am ready to move into Grade 11. As we are just about done the school year and I’m finishing up Grade 10, I’ve decided to reflect back on my Vision, Mission, and Values chart (VMV) that I made at the of the school year.
How has my VMV helped me accomplish my goals this year?
My VMV played a crucial role in how I grew as a learner and stretched beyond my comfort zone. Coming up with my Vision, Mission, and Values before I even began Grade 10 was very helpful. I set expectations for myself that I strived to achieve. Throughout the year, I was constantly looking back to see what goals I had set, to make sure I was on track and doing work I could be proud of. I’m really proud that I completed most of those goals.
I found that writing down my mission before I started the year really helped me actually follow through with it. Having it in mind throughout the year helped me stay motivated and encouraged me to push myself and take risks.
My vision reminded me of the bigger picture and reminded me to start building the kind of person I want to be by the time I graduate.
What projects have helped me grow as a learner this year?
Two projects that truly stood out to me this year were ones that helped me grow the most—not just as a learner, but also in my confidence, creativity, and ability to take on challenges outside my comfort zone.
1) Mentor For A Day | Lessons For Life
Mentor for a day and Lessons for life (Marine Biology Podcast)🦭
The driving question for this project was: “How can learning from others’ career journeys help us shape our own?” This project taught me so much about marine biology. By talking to my aunt, she gave me a chance to explore a new career that seems really fun and exciting. I loved learning about what a marine biologist does day-to-day and understanding why their work is important for protecting the environment. Through researching, interviewing, and creating a podcast, I developed valuable skills like organizing information clearly using the Smart Brevity method. I also learned how to use GarageBand much better by having to edit audio. This was really helpful because I’m guessing we’ll be using this app all the way through high school. Moving forward, I plan to use these research, communication, and technical skills for future projects.

2) Definitely Not The 51st State
You might be surprised that I chose this project—I was a bit surprised too! The driving question was: “How does sharing stories help us build the ‘just society’ we aspire to be?” This was the most recent project we did in Humanities. It taught me the importance of staying organized and gave me a real boost in confidence when it comes to public speaking. At first, I was nervous about delivering my speech to half the class. I was worried I might mess up. But once I completed my script, I felt really proud of what I had written, which made me a lot less nervous. Public speaking has always been a challenge for me, but this experience showed me how much I’ve grown. Knowing I had created something meaningful gave me a strong sense of accomplishment. Another key part of this project was learning how to use the Zettelkasten system. It helped me organize my research and ideas using the app Craft in a much clearer way, and I know it’s a tool I’ll continue to use in the future.

Why am I ready to move into Grade 11?
I know I am prepared for Grade 11 because I’ve grown both academically and personally during Grade 10. I know Grade 11 is a big step up—especially since universities will be looking at my grades—but I feel ready for the challenge. Looking at the MyBlueprint website was really helpful. It got me excited about my future and made me realize that I’m working toward something I’ll be passionate about. It gave me a reason to try my hardest.
Over the past year, I’ve learned so many new skills through the different projects I’ve done, including:
-
Organization – Keeping track of deadlines, notes, and study materials
-
Research skills – Finding reliable sources and using them properly in projects and essays
-
Public speaking – Presenting my work clearly and confidently in front of the class
-
Teamwork – Working with others on group projects and learning to communicate
-
Creative thinking – Coming up with original ideas
-
Goal setting – Learning how to set personal and academic goals and follow through
-
Note-taking – Writing clear, organized, and helpful notes that support my studying
-
Reflection – Looking back at my work and identifying ways to improve
-
Career planning – Starting to explore future pathways and understanding how post-secondary school works
All of these skills will help me succeed in the year to come. I’m looking forward to a fresh start and a new chance to push myself even further.
Thank you.
