Video Game

Hello, in this blog post I will explain to you how I made my video game . Throughout this class we have done lots of experiments and projects but the overall one that stuck out to me was the video game that we had to make ourselves. Since I had never done anything even close to programming an entire game I definitely had lots of trouble trying to start up, when I thought of simple games that I think I could make I first thought of these games that I have on my watch and because they are probably all really easy to make I thought that this wouldn’t take that long, boy oh boy how wrong I was, when I first thought of a fun game for me to make flappy bird came to my mind because well frankly I am pretty good at it [my high score is 76]. When I first opened up scratch and started working, or so I thought as soon as I saw how complex scratch was I immediately asked my friends for some help but they didn’t know what to do either so then I started watching a tutorial for my game and it was going really well until the end when I couldn’t figure out how to make it so that you die when you hit the spike and after lots and lots of attempts and help I had to restart. Once I finished the new game it still wouldn’t work either so I tried different code and then I tried a different game style but that didn’t work either so I just stopped working on a lost cause and decided to pick another game. When I tried to choose another game to build I thought of making a variation of the game Snake. When I started making the game same issue occurred, I couldn’t get the sprite to die and each time I added new code it would affect the first sprites code and over all the game just would not work so I decided to just cut it in the middle with a a new game that I thought of called “Scratch Catch” the point of the game is to catch a “proton” and each time you catch one it adds to your score and more and more. Even though it has its flaws I still think that its an okay game for my skill set and I think that its a pretty good game.
