mPOL 2022

Hello, this post is for my mPOL (Mid Year Presentation Of Learning). A reflection on semester 1 and my growth as a learner. There are 2 things I am looking to findwith this reflection.

The first is: How have I demonstrated growth as a learner so far this year?

The second is: How can I sharpen my Learning Plan to ensure I will reach my learning targets by the end of this school year?

This is my semester 1 catalogue of learning:

3 Humanities Projects:

  • People And The Environment (Letter about Environmental issues in BC)
  • Revolutions On Trial (Winter Exhibition)
  • Working With Words (Poetry eBook)

I am most proud of my improvement in the learning process from humanities. It has become a lot clearer since September.

3 Scimatics Projects:

  • Game Laws Exponents (Creating a board game based on exponents and chance)
  • Correlation Vs Causation (Creating surveys and identifying the results as either a correlation or a causation)
  • Chemistry Stories (Animation video on chemical bonding)

I am most proud of my improvement with understanding concepts. It has been a lot easier and faster since September.

This is my full learning plan:

2 Biggest competencies I’ve grown on as a learner in semester 1:

  • Communication
  • Positive Personal and Cultural Identity

Communication:

My communication has always been pretty good, however this year I have seen it improve. Mostly with “Working With Words”, a poetry project where we wrote and analyzed poetry.

Positive Personal and Cultural Identity:

A Personal and Cultural Identity is a perception of ones self based on their experiences, and worldview.

My entire grade 9 experience has been shaping my identity, which I have not yet fully learnt. But I am beginning to understand that it is a very complex topic.

I still have some time to go before I accomplish my competencies, but I believe I am on the right track. So that is my demonstration of learning. Which leaves me with my final point:

How can I sharpen my Learning Plan to ensure I will reach my learning targets by the end of this school year?

I can do this through revision. My learning plan isn’t permanent and I can always make changes to fit my current standards. Specifically with my Systems, Habits, and Dispositions, if I no longer need something I can remove it, and if I need something new I can add to it.

That is my mPOL 2022.
