Disney and the ”American Dream” go hand-in-hand.

Disneyland represents an escape from real-life problems and into a fantasy world. There are only happy endings and they want to keep it that way. The power of Disney’s medium, such as their TV program and profound impact on their children audience, reinforces their messaging of the American Ideals.

Disney shows what could become the future and Disneyland is a manifestation of an ideal American history and culture. It is an idealization of the past and a hopeful regard for the future. They make you think you want/have to be there and it is designed to be engaging. Disneyland creates an image of America that people would like to think exists and plays into the American Dream of where you want to be. It idealizes off of the postwar era and gives fulfillment to people’s dreams of a nice place to live where no problems exist. Everything is designed to be perfect at Disneyland with trash cans every 30 feet and a colour of paint that makes things unnoticeable.
