This exhibition was quite tiring and stressful but it was more fun then the exhibitions in the past has been. Now in ninth grade my class and I are used to exhibitions and we know what to do and how to problem solve. After a lot of planning and setup (and yelling at people to actually do something) our room turned out nice, in my opinion. I think we decorated it well and used interesting props. Thanks to Cameron we also had a very cool projector to use on the roof.

The room had music and lights everywhere and projected moving patterns on the roof. My favourite part was definitely the lights, we had Christmas lights on the walls and lamps on the tables with the projector projecting onto the roof. It was a very fun and inviting atmosphere. To show our rooms theme (exploration, augmented reality, and VR) we had a VR game (Stack VR) station in the corner for people to play. It ended up being a huge success, we had a scoreboard on the white board of our guests high scores and everyone started to get very competitive. Our winner is Reagan! Go Reagan! Woohoo! 🎉🎊👏🥳

Although I think it went well there was still some things that could be better. For example the amount of people that came into our room, that was a big issue. Since our room was in the furthest corner of the school not a lot of people walked all the way down there. I didn’t realize there was a problem until I visited another room on my break and it had way more people then us. All the rooms at the front of the school were always packed with visitors but there was times where our room didn’t have any people in it. Along with that I only ever had one person watch my video all the way through, oh speaking of that I haven’t told you what we were presenting at the exhibition yet! I will talk about that after this. Anyways back to what I was saying, barely anyone watched my documentary all the way through. All of our videos were way to long and everyone walked away half way through it. Sometimes the guests just watched the intro and asked me for a summary of the video. I didn’t plan how I would answer any of the questions parents asked me so It was quite hard. I think we should of made cards in front of our viewing boxes to explain what the video was about and why we made them. Then the audience members would also get to know about the video before watching it and understand what’s happening.

But now I’ll talk about the actual video!

Brooke’s Documentary

This documentary is about exploring culture and different sorts of culture shock people have experienced. In the video is two interviews from two people who have a lot of experience travelling around the world. They talk about why travelling is important to them and different things they witnessed on their travels.

I really enjoyed making this video and I hope we get the opportunity to make another documentary again. It was fun making up the questions to ask for the interviews and my favourite part was the editing. I used the app CapCut to edit it, which I have been using for years. I definitely suggest it because it is a great way to edit videos. It is way better then other editing apps!

In preparation for the making of my documentary I:

– Wrote down prompt questions for my Interviewees

– Made a rough storyboard for how my video will look

– Planned out my Idea

I think my video turned out good, and all the planning definitely helped.

But along with the preparation for my documentary I also had to prepare for the winter exhibition with my group. Here are my group members:

Luca, Parker, Angelo, Cameron, Rhadan, Jessie, and Francis! And Julia!

We all had different stations in our room to stand (NO SITTING! SITTING IS NOT ALLOWED EVER! NO EXUSES) at and show to our guests. Other than during our breaks we stayed at our station to help explain our area or help them with it. All the different stations were:

1. Grade 8s project (Presented by Rhadan)

2. Food station, with jello and ice tea (brought and given out by Parker)

3. Stack AR (Camerons idea presented by Angelo)

4. Grade 9s project (Presented by Cameron, Brooke, Jessie, and Francis)

This was the room we had to work with and transform (207):

I think we did a good job, despite all the things we had to cover in the classroom to completely change the room from a working classroom to a exhibition room.

Here’s the planning part of our room:

– We made a collaborative ideas list for our rooms decoration:

– I made sure everyone was prepared:

– And we made a drawn diagram of how we will set it up:

We ended up switching some things around last minute!

– The AR game was moved to where the smaller ‘Desk with props’ area was

– The food table was moved to where the AR game was and we put more of our boxes (the projects) there

– We scrapped the projector idea with the Matrix code

Even though we did a lot of things last minute I really like how our room turned out

In the end I think this exhibition was great (with some minor flaws), my group was a little hard to work with sometimes but everyone participated in one way or another. I had a fun time and I hope our guests learned a few things about how avatar relates to the real world from our projects. I also loved that this project took inspiration from the movie Avatar so we got to watch both the Avatar movies!

Even after another exhabion and another exibition reflection I still can’t seem to spell exhabition…
