My careers 10 project was about finding a mentor and interview them about their job. I interviewed Koreen, she is a sheriff that oversees the courts. Although for my future job I would like to become a forensic psychologist, someone who helps make communities safer by studying criminal behaviour and supporting offenders who may have acted because of things they couldn’t control. To create fairness but also understand why these patterns happen, to prevent it in the future, so everyone can live a happy life! Koreen had insight within her job about psychologists, so I was very lucky to get to hear her point of view for working with courts.
Out of all of the projects I think this was my favourite, I learned so many new things for my future, how courts work, and forensic psychology. I learned the importance of getting a deep understanding before interviewing someone. It helped me to be able to ask questions about certain areas that made my audio reflection more engaging when creating it in the end.
Using smart brevity gave me a guidance for what I wanted my interview to look like, by having a variety of important key topics, but keeping them short to fit within my audio reflection. I spent a lot of time editing, learning to play around with music with fading in and out, transitions and an intro and outro. Cutting down the unnecessary areas in the interview, to focus more on what I think others would find engaging, and context to fully understand what was being said.
I know they aren’t super realistic, but here is an intelligence and career test.
Learning from others’ career journeys helps us shape our own by giving insight into the challenges and decisions that lead to success. When I interviewed a sheriff who oversees the courts, I gained a better understanding of the justice system and the skills needed to work in it. Hearing about Koreen’s experiences showed me the importance of education, training, and adaptability in any career. It also made me realize the qualities needed in the future job I would like to have, such as critical thinking and problem-solving. Koreen’s journey reminded me that careers can take unexpected turns, and being open to learning from different perspectives is valuable. Listening to others’ experiences helps us make informed decisions and stay motivated toward our own goals.
