One way we can improve the health and wellness towards ourselves and others is by learning how to manage procrastination. In my project I focused on how our environment can play a big role in if we get distracted and leave things to the last minute. I created a video where I talked about how things like phones, clutter, or even noise can lead to procrastination without us even realizing it. By recognizing these distractions we can take start to remove them and create a space that helps us stay focused and productive. This can help reduce stress and improve our mental health.

Throughout the project I worked through different parts of the workbook where I created my guiding question, call to action and other key parts to get an understanding of what I needed to understand to create my video. I then answered the guiding questions I had created and researched about behavioural psychology. I learned that procrastination isn’t just about being lazy, it’s often about avoiding stress or uncomfortable feelings. This helped me shape my solution statement: that people should take away distractions from their environment to stop procrastinating. I used all of this research to create a script for my final video so people could take into consideration find solutions to stop procrastinating by changing their environment.

In my video my call to action was to inspire people to use research from behavioural psychology to recognize when they are making unhelpful choices. I wanted people to see that small changes to their surroundings can make a big difference in how they can focus and get things done. By sharing these strategies through my video, I hope to help others improve their mental wellness and feel more in control. Getting rid of distractions is an easy, challenging, but also powerful thing to create healthy habits so you aren’t stressed from always feeling behind.
