Becoming A PLP learner bloog Post

Once upon a time, in 2020, I found out about the PLP, I thought it seemed cool, so I joined, after a gruelling and brutal series of challenges, I was finally accepted. Of course, that was not the end, instead, it was only the beginning, I came into school ready to learn, and was immediately shoved into a project, of course, this was “Becoming a PLP learner”, a series of daunting tasks lay ahead of me, including making a Memoji, making a tour in keynote, and My User Manual, but this will all be revealed in the rest of this post. (Apple, please, I want my brother back, you said you only needed his arms)

The Big Life Journal

Oh no…. A journal…..

Of course, the big life journal is not a regular journal, it doesn’t record day to day happenings, instead, it records the future, and your brain, as the BLJ, as i shall call it, is an all-knowing entity and the god of the future. Of course, the BLJ gives is services freely, with a cost so absurd it drives any mortal insane, also known as $31.90 CAD (Paint not included, each set sold separately.) , but for any who join the PLP, the BLJ offers its services for nothing in return.

It drives home the importance of perseverance, dreaming big, and not giving up on your dreams, and GROWTH MINDSET (Otherwise known as a PLP mindset) in chapter 1. In Chapter 2 you find yourself. In chapter 3, you dream of what you want to do, this is where you make the Dream Board, the ultimate controller of your fate. In Chapter 4, we made goal staircases, and I figured out a way to carefully waste all of my money on Resin, Plastic, Metal, Paint, and glue. And also how to become a famous YouTuber, but still, I would rather waste all of my money.

Then came Chapter 5, the end, all about making mistakes, of course, I make a lot of mistakes, and become smarter from each one (Independent fact checkers have reported this statement as false)

The User Manual

How to operate Charlie v1.2 is a (Now obsolete) guide to your resident nerd (therefore it might not be about me), and a way to prevent death by facts about warships, this is now obsolete, as Charlie has updated to 1.3, this was a very fun assignment, as I got to tell people how to operate me, this also lead to me being  praised for my taste in tea by a teacher. During this phase, we had to follow mentor texts exactly. (Or at least be very very close), this was when I learned of the sorcery called Paragraph styles, it immediately turns the seem to be written words into captions or headings, or any other style, this was a major help, as it meant that I could easily match the mentor text, it also saved me a lot of time, as I didn’t have to match the font size exactly each and every time the paragraph style changed.

The Keynote Guided Tour

This was awesome, as I got to use all of my acquired knowledge, and some new knowledge, to make a guided tour in keynote. I learned how to make links, and what not to do in Keynote. My favourite part was learning how to do links, and then trying it, and then seeing it work. This was most certainly my 2nd favourite part of the project, and watching it all come together is very, very satisfying.

The Memoji laptop

For the Memoji laptop, we made ourselves as Memojis, and then Mr. Hughes thought us how to use Instant Alpha, which removes the background on images, we also added borders and shadows to the instant alpha’d images, turning them into stickers. This was my, by far, favourite part of this entire project, as I got to be creative and show myself.

So how do I build and strengthen the PLP learning team?

I work as the “Ideas Man” and put out ideas, of course, the majority of them are rejected, on the other hand, I sometime need to be focused back on to the topic at hand, as sometimes I simply forget what I’m doing, and other times, I get bored.

I think that I work well in a team, however, I still have much, much more room to improve.

On that note, goodbye.
