Pandoras Box

My first blog post/Pandora’s box

Did my box reflect on the driving question: What does James Cameron’s fantasy world of Avatar reveal about our own society?

I think that my box reflected well on the driving question because it reveals how if someone’s different often times people will treat them differently or less than them. In the movie they treat the Na’vi badly and think that they don’t matter because they look different from them. They called them offensive terms too when referring to them. In the movie they wanted their natural resources and it showed how they valued resources over them. Avatar reveals that in real life people colonized countries and land. Colonization is the action of establishing control over indigenous people of an area. This happened in Canada and many other countries.

My box shows the scene from the movie when they bomb their forest and the home tree falls down. It shows the offensive terms they called them and how reckless they were because they didn’t view them as people too. In real life you see this also happen a lot with people thinking their better for being a certain race and that they have higher importance. The steps that i took to create my box were to get all my materials from the store, and then start working on it at school. I spent a little over a week working on it and adding details. After my box was done i made up a short script for the exhibition and presented it.
