The more things change…

This project was about exploring Canadian history. This is important because I live in Canada so the history effects me. Through the length of the the project I learned about the fur trade early exploration and colonization. We learned about Continuity and change from the age of New France. We worked with partners for this project, me and my [{partner}] together to create an infographic about European settlement in Canada.

For the first Milestone we did a reflection writing piece about the history of deep cove (where I go to school). This was the first Step -milestone- in this project, it set us off in the right direction and helped us learn about the perspectives on continuity and change.

the driving question that put this project in motion was “What did European settlement mean for all the people involved?” This question made me think of what even is European settlement, what do I need to know about it and what do I already know about it. To learn more about this Question, we explored things like why Europeans came to North America, what they did in North America the other people that where involved.

My answer for this question is split into 3 parts; the British, the French, and the First Nations. For the British it was a tale of conquest, they came to the Americas and worked relentlessly for many years to build an economy and came out on top. For the French it meant lot’s of struggle with lesser outcome, they developed trade and population but eventually got overruled. For the First Nations this meant newfound struggle and new ways of life.

We used our research about these groups to make our infographic , we collected supporting facts and made graphics to show what we learned

We also made a video format of our infographic to explain our work verbally as apposed to text
