Careers Atomic Habits Learning IntentionsšŸ“āš›ļø

My Careers Atomic Habits Learning Intentions:

Atomic Habits: Ā

In class we are reading a book called Atomic Habits by James Clear. The whole idea of the book is using habits to improve by 1% each day. James Clear starts the book by going over his experience in high school where he dealt with a near fatal injury. He talks about how his injury set him back months but how he managed to use healthy habits to slowly become the person he aspired to be. I quite enjoy his writing, and unlike some ā€œself-helpā€ authors, he has some first hand experience and seems to know exactly what he’s talking about. I like the quote from the first chapter of the book that says ā€œ We all deal with setbacks but in the long run, the quality of our lives often depends on the quality of our habits.ā€ I really like the idea of habits and how much habits can change and improve your life.Ā  I’m pretty excited to read this book.

What is a Habit?

A habit is a regular and sometimes subconscious routine or behaviour acquired through repetition. Habits are often so small you don’t realize you are acting on a habit. Habits can be different things, eating habits or preferences, addiction (which is a negative habit), or small things like locking the door at night are all examples of habits.Ā

My Learning Intentions:

I want to be able to grow not only as a learner with this project but also hopefully take away some of the information I learn and use it to improve as a person. I will start to incorporate habits into my own life and reflect on my habits and which ones are helping me grow vs. holding me back.Ā

VMV:

I will use my vision mission and values to keep myself on track and accountable for my learning. For this project, I’m going to focus on using my class time wisely and staying engaged and focused during lessons. I want to learn more about habits and take the time to explore any topics I don’t fully understand. I’ll use my Agency by asking for help when I need it, handing in my assignments on time, and using feedback to improve and extend my work. I’ll show GRIT by taking risks in my learning and pushing through any challenges that come up. I’ll also practice Self-Regulation by recognizing when I need a break and taking it responsibly.

Thank you for reading my post!

WWII Learning IntentionsšŸ’£

In class we are learning about the idea that history is written by the victors and how that changes the way WWII is remembered. Ā

What I already know about WWII:

I’m very interested in that time period so I’ve already taken it upon myself to learn about WWII. I’ve read a couple books like The Book Thief, I Survived: D-day (quite a while ago), Cilkas Journey, and a couple of other ones that I cant remember. Im also really into war movies, so ive watched Pearl Harbour, the Forgotten Battle, All the Light We Cannot See, and a couple WWI movies. I personally think that wars are the most interesting parts of human history so I’m excited for this project. I quite enjoyed our project on WWI, and learned a lot so I’m hoping this project will be just as good!

My Learning intention for this project:

I want to be able to further my learning about WWII and also be very active and engaged in class. I find it a lot easier to enjoy learning when its about something that I’m interested in, or that I already know a bit about.Ā

In my Vision Mission and Values, I mention agency, GRIT, and self-regulation. I will use my vision mission and values to keep me accountable of my learning and I will try to make the most of this project to grow as a learner and be one more step closer to fulfilling my mission. This project I will focus on using my class time appropriately and make sure that I am engaged and focused in class. I hope to learn more about the time period and fully explore the topics that I don’t understand. I will use my Agency to seek help whenever I don’t understand or need help, making sure my assignments are handed in on time, and accepting feedback and using the feedback to extend my work. I will use GRIT to take risks with my learning, and work past any speed bumps in my learning with renewed effort. I will Self Regulate and take breaks when I need them. I will use communication to give kind, specific, and constructive feedback to my peers.

Thanks for reading!
