A Post About Emojis

Hello!

I am still behind on my blog posts, but I’m catching up. I only need to finish two more!

Onto the actual post. This week for the Student Blogging Challenge, the topic is emojis! Emojis are fun and expressive, but I don’t use them that often, so this will be fun!

The first task that I am going to complete in this post is to write an story based on a prompt from byrdseed.com/emoji. It provides random emojis that you can translate into a story. Here is mine:

Once upon a time there was an elephant named Jedediah. Every day he went to the basketball court and played basketball with all his animal friends. But one day, he fell and hit his head. For the rest of the week, he had to wear a big bandage. The bandage was so huge that he couldn’t fit through doors anymore, so he had to sleep outside. While he was lying on the ground outside his house, he met a squid named Theresa. They took a train to the local pool. While Theresa had her nails done, Jedediah took a swimming class. He liked swimming because he couldn’t fall and hurt himself. Afterwards, they went to a bakery and shared a piece of cake. Jedediah was pleased to have made a new friend.

That was my story! It’s pretty random, but then again, so are the emojis.

The second task I’m going to complete is the Emoji Guessing Game. I’ve made 5 different emoji combinations relating to different Harry Potter characters. Leave a comment if you think you know the answers!

👩🏽‍🏫 📚 🐱

These may be kind of difficult to guess, I had trouble finding the right emojis. But who knows? You may be knowledgeable about Harry Potter.

Lastly I’m going to share an emoji that I made using a website called Made With Code Emoji Project. You entered code to  position the different features of your emoji. I tried to recreate my avatar. How do you think I did?

Well, that concludes this post! I hope you enjoyed it, and remember to comment with your answers for my Emoji Quiz!

Cheers!

  1. Hi Evelyn-

I’m an 8th grade English and Communications teacher visiting from Virginia. Like you, I’m running behind on the weekly challenges, too. You’re much farther along than I am…grading papers always trumps blogging for me. My students, however, are doing a smashing job–just like you are!

I adore your Bitmoji avatar, but I am mighty impressed by the emoji look-alike you created using code. I think it’s a very close resemblance, only simpler, of course. I also really enjoyed your story…that’s quite an achievement to be able to string together all those randomly generated pics. The story read like a children’s book…very whimsical. My class skipped the emoji week, but after commenting on so many awesome blogs for Week 6, we’re going back and doing this as our Week 9. 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving…and happy blogging!

      Hi Mrs. Rombach!
Thanks so much for commenting! I finally caught up on all my challenges, and my posts for school. Phew!
I’m glad you like my avatar. The emoji I made is quite simple, but I still think it’s pretty cute. My story is pretty random, too, but I am happy with it.
In Canada Thanksgiving was a month ago, but Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
      Evelyn
