Hello and welcome to my Blog post. Today I wanted to talk about our recent PGP project. This project was very real life and we learned a lot about stuff we would use in our future.
One of the first things we did was learn about a thing called the Investopedia simulator. The Investopedia simulator makes it so we are able to buy, trade and research stocks. As a class we competed against each other on who could make the most money. We continued through out the class to watch our stocks and learn though them.
We continued to learn about on how much it costs to move out and go to university, which was quite a eye opening experience. I definitely didn’t know that it costs so much to just live. I planned out things like how to budget food and how electricity bills work.
The next big thing we moved on to was called how to buy a used car. We first searched places like Craigslist and Kijiji for cheap used cars. Once we found our used car we filled out a real tax form for a used car. Then we played a game to do with it. The point of the game was that we were given three slips, one told us on how much money we made, one told us how much money our parents gave us and then it also told us on how much our rent cost. Then Mr. May read out different scenarios and we basically just had to calculate how much each month cost to live.
The final project was that we had to make a presentation to educate our classmates on something to do with finance.
Me and my friend Syd decided to make ours about “how to make money as a teen”. We worked really hard on creating an easy to understand presentation. I also created a personality quiz that you would take and your result would tell you what local business (that was actually hiring) they should apply to. The presentation was a great success and people enjoyed our interactive element!
I learned so much from this project and It will definitely help me in the future. Thanks for reading!
