Hello Ms. Madsen these are my parents Robert and Jana and parents this is Ms. Madsen.
Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.
TPOL stands for transitional presentation of learning, so I will be talking about how I plan to transition to grade 11. Grade 11 is arguably one of the most important years of your life, it’s where you decide what you want to pursue post-secondary and you focus on your studies. But it’s also the year where you mature a lot and find you place in the world. So for grade 11 I have a lot goals but to move to the future you also have to reflect on the past.
But to do that I also need to talk about my criteria for the year As you can see this is probably A bit different then what you are used to. This year instead of a learning plan PLP decided to do this thing called a LV.M.V. Using this we were able to more clearly set out our goals and also in general what specific areas we wanted to work on in the coming school year. We were able to choose three success behaviours but the main one I wanted to focus on was agency. As all my teachers know Agency is one of the things I struggle with the most. So through out this tPOL I want to discuss on how I demonstrated (or didn’t demonstrate) Agency in each project.
Grade 10 has been filled with a lot of highs and lows for my learning. And I will cover them all throughout my favourite projects while still keeping in mind my LV.M.W
I’ve decided for the sake of time only talk about two projects since I tend to ramble a bit.
So the first project I want to talk about is a PGP project called changemakers, the very same project that brought us to Disney World. After lots of anticipation, the PLP 10 At first, it might seem like there’s nothing to learn at Disney beyond food and rides, but there’s actually a lot more going on.
Our project focused on elements that Disney used to make the experience more “magical”, and I chose to explore “Designing Dreams” I chose to make mine about how memories are tied to design, scent, and sound. I was especially interested in how these senses create lasting emotional connections.
The trip itself was a huge shift for meI’d never been to a theme park before. Florida? Hot and humid. And Magic Kingdom? Fun, but exhausting after 16 hours!
Throughout the parks, I noticed how sound and smell were used to create immersive worlds. From alien noises in Pandora to ride-specific scents, everything was designed to stick with you.
The trip helped our class bond, and I made memories I’ll never forget. Things like the class wide beach volleyball game really helped me feel like more of a whole with the class. Even though some of my interviews lost audio, I still learned a ton and came home with new memories tied to scent and sound.
In terms of my LV.M.W I actually think I did quite well as my video was handed in on time and I kept track of what I needed to complete throughout the parks.
Now for humanities this may surprise ms Madsen but I’d say that one of my favourite projects was our most recent one, “Definitely not the 51st state”. Definitely not the 51st state was a project that focused on big Canada shaping events in the 20th century. We did many things in this project including getting introduced to Zettlecasting and a whole exhibition.
But surprisingly enough that isn’t what I want to focus on for this project, I wanted to talk about our speeches. The speeches were supposed to be a quick two minute speech about something from 20th century Canada. I “surprisingly enough” chose to talk about environmentalism in Canada. But the reason this speech was so meaningful to me isn’t just the subject but the words that I was saying.
I personally love writing and speaking words that matter and display emotion. With this speech I think I did that. I wrote it in a way that expressed my passion towards the environment while still being able to get across my facts. I felt really confident in the way that I expressed my tone and accentuating the moments that mattered. The speech made me feel powerful and confident.
Now I think I’m getting towards the end of my tPOL I want to wrap it up with my future. As I said at the beginning grade 11 is a big one, and I need to get my ducks in a row. Reflecting on grade 10 I can confidently say that I am ready for the next step. And the next journey.
Thank you.
