Rock ‘n’ Roll

Hello ladies, gentlemen and every form of terrestrial and extra terrestrial life currently reading this post. It is week seven of the student blogging challenge. This week we could write about whatever we wanted to write about. So I’m taking this opportunity to write about something that I really really enjoy which would be music. I will be focusing a lot on rock music because that’s something that I play a lot of on the guitar It’s honestly one of my biggest passions and biggest things that I do in life and I wanted to share with you guys how much music means to me.

Since it can sometimes be hard to convey emotions with words that you can’t even hear someone say, I made a video about my passion :

Here’s a bit more of the backstory to why music has such a special place in my life:

As I mentioned in the video, I started playing guitar when I was about seven years old. I didn’t even want to. I’m so glad my parents made me go. As I said I started off playing classical guitar and I really didn’t enjoy it that much after a while. I was just doing the exercises that the teacher was telling me do because the teacher was telling me to do those exercises and playing this kind of music because the teacher was telling us to play this kind of music.

After I joined the high school band program, I quit my guitar lessons. It wasn’t  because I didn’t like guitar anymore it was because I didn’t really have time. But joining the band program was the best thing that I’ve ever done. Then we do often play classical songs, our teacher, let us play more rock ‘n’ roll kind of music. I had always had an electric guitar at home but I had never used it until my band teacher asked me to come and play guitar, on the electric guitar.

That was really a defining moment in my musical career. The first time picking up an electric guitar in the first time being able to produce really neat sound. Now nobody knows this about me, but after that first time playing a song on the electric guitar I went home and wrote my own song. And I have kept on doing that and creating sounds and using Music as a creative outlet to channel my emotions. And also learning the base guitar which is a lot of fun. As well as discovering something about my self I discovered a bunch of different artists that I now admire.

  • AC/DC

Some of my favorite songs and artists include:

Teen spirit by Nirvana

Under pressure by David Bowie and Queen

Purple haze by Jimmy Hendrix

And so so many more things.

Honestly music to me is like when people write down their emotions in a journal I do it through Music. It doesn’t have to be a song that I wrote it’s just a song that I might listen to  or that I might play that reflects my emotions and my state of mind.I’m very glad I played classical guitar because it gave me many technical skills and I learnt how to read music. I’m also glad that I have been able to try new things on the guitar and throughout the time I have been playing music.

Thats it for today! Leave your comments below and have a good evening/afternoon/morning.

    Dear totally not weird kid,
I love your writing style! I can clearly hear your sense of humor. I am impressed with how well you expressed your love of music and how it helps mirror your emotions. Wow! Your video is amazing. Such talent! I had to giggle when looking at the bands and artists you admire – it’s funny to me because that’s the music I listened to in my teens and twenties! ( great taste! )
Overall, you have an outstanding blog. Your voice comes through easily and it is a fun and informative read. Thank you.
