🍣Japanese Food🍜

Welcome back to my blog!

If you haven’t seen my previous posts on Japan, you can find them below:

Intro Post

Post #2- Basics of the Japanese Writing System

Anyway, today we’re going to be talk about Japanese food! I’ll give a brief description of each dish, and I’ll add a picture for some of them.

Sushi (すし) – There are a couple of different types of sushi:

Nori-maki – Raw fish (and/or vegetables) wrapped in rice and seaweed

Nigiri – Piece of raw fish on top of vinegared rice

Here is some sushi I had for dinner a few nights ago:

(I got a california roll, tuna roll, and salmon roll)

(To edit this image, I used an app called Canva to get rid of the background, then in Photos, I added all the words)

(I’m pretty sure that I labeled everything right, but if it’s not, sorry)

Sashimi (さしみ) – Sashimi is raw fish sliced into pieces, (like nigiri, but no rice)

Ramen (ラーメン)  Wheat noodles served in broth, with toppings such as: pork, egg, naruto (a fish cake with a swirl on it, looks like this- 🍥) nori (seaweed) and more. Fun Fact: Ramen originated in China

(Again, I used Canva to remove the background,  and in Photos, I added the writing)

Udon (うどん) – Thick wheat noodles served in broth

Tempura (てんぷら) – Seafood or vegetables lightly battered, and then fried

Onigiri (おにぎり) – A rice ball usually wrapped in seaweed

Gyoza (ぎょざ) – Dumplings with a ground meat and/or vegetable filling

Here’s a picture I took a while ago, and I just remembered it now:

Looks like a face, doesn’t it?

I think the left eye is a california roll, I don’t know what the right eye is, and the nose is a gyoza.

That’s all I’m going to write today, I hope you enjoyed reading a bit  about Japanese food!
