Mpols! Aka the Most Painful, Obviously Ludicrous thing ever

Hello and welcome to Blondie’s Mpol of 2023, aka the Most Painful, Obviously Ludicrous thing ever.

Anyways,

Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

Today I’m going to be talking about how I’ve grown as a learner and some things I still struggle with. I’m also going to talk about what I’ve done to be where I am now, and what I’m going to continue working on to improve.

Humanities

For Humanities, on my learning plan I said I wanted to work on staying on task and focusing. The past couple projects I’ve been doing really well, I’ve been able to focus and stay on task during class. The first humanities project of the year The Power of Geography however, was one I really struggled with. When we were in Alberta, it was very fun and I had a great time. But when we got back, I realized I should’ve taken more notes, so I would have an easier time creating the book. I put off finishing the assignment a lot, which was stressful when the due date kept getting closer. Eventually I got it done, but I wasn’t exactly happy with the final result, and the process of getting there. It felt rushed, and I feel that if I gave myself more time I could’ve made something I was more proud of.

Maker

On my learning plan for Maker, I put that I wanted to manage my time better and not rushing through assignments. Lately I’ve been trying to have a better routine through the day, so I wouldn’t stress as much when it comes to assignments. I try to get a better sleep every night and I am able to focus more during class which really helps with not rushing through things. One of our recent projects, where we had to interview someone for our documentary. I was very nervous for this part because, even though I already knew the person I was going to interview, it had been a long time since I’d seen him. This was stressing me out a lot, but by the time the interview had I had calmed down, and everything was fine after that. Overall, I’m quite proud of how my documentary turned out.

Science

In science on my learning plan I said I wanted to try and do more during class time so I wouldn’t have as much homework. While I do have homework sometimes it’s not so much that I can’t deal with it. This year, science was my best class. It was easy to focus and I was able to take notes that were helpful to me later on. I’m proud of the work I did in class, especially the interactive periodic table we made using Scratch.

Next I’m going to be talking about my disposition, habits and systems.

Disposition –

For disposition, I said that I wanted to focus on tasks more, and having a growth mindset. I have been a lot more focused compared to last year. I think by further limiting distractions while in class would help. I do have a growth mindset for most things, but others things like the slam poetry unit we did, I had more of a fixed mindset about (I don’t like poetry much and I don’t like presenting it).

Habits –

For habits I said I wanted to check showbie every night so I wouldn’t forget any assignments. I sometimes do this, but lately I’ve just been checking it if I feel the need to, like if I know there’s an assignment, and I need to check the criteria. I also said I wanted to work on finishing assignments earlier so I wasn’t doing it the day before it was due. I’ve been getting better at this, especially for writing this Mpol, I decided I would work on it a bit every night, doing a paragraph or so. This really helped with making it less stressful for me, instead of trying to do it all at once and it overwhelming me.

Systems –

For the system part of my learning plan, I wanted to have a better homework routine. I’ve been doing better with my homework, not leaving it for too long, and getting it done. However, I think I can work on this by getting more assignments done within class time.

And now for the core competencies!

My absolute favourite part of the learning plan!

For my competencies, I either put profile 3 or 4, and I believe I have reached that mark for each. I am able to communicate and collaborate with groups members, interpret others ideas, and use my judgement and draw conclusions. For the personal and social competencies, though, I think I can work on these more next semester.

This semester was a little tough for me, but I got through it, and I’m going to try and have a growth mindset when it comes to projects I don’t like much, or working with someone I don’t know well. Overall, I think I did well in terms of completing assignments, though I think I should’ve tried harder to make some more detailed.

The End!

Thanks for listening to my Mpol!
